        Hi All,
Rrecently joined AM. I am a self taught guitarist, mostly played finger style covers for different songs on and off by learning from YouTube. Recently got interested in “making” music and not just copying someone else arrangements. That’s how I got to know about the blues and lead guitar. Want to learn improvising and looking forward to meet like minded folks :). Unfortunately I none of my friends play any musical instrument.

Also, I tried searching on the website, there is no structured way to learn blues right? Mostly the focus is to learn by learning new songs and over the period of time I will get enough licks so that I can start improvising? Please correct me if I am wrong. 🙂

Welcome to AM! You have it correct…just pick a lesson you like and you will learn new things. Before you know it you’ll be improvising! Record and post some of your playing in the “Showcase your playing” forum where you’ll get much feedback/encouragement from others. And join the monthly challenges…they will help you on your way to learning improv.

Welcome Aditya. I think we have several members from India, so you are not alone. I’m hoping some of you Indian dudes can create some Indian blues fusion songs. In my mind I can hear a sitar playing the blues scale to a 1, 4, 5 blues shuffle, trading licks with a Fender Strat.

              Welcome Aditya,

You might like to look at the Courses section of the site. Brian has put together some very good structured courses that are a great introduction to the lessons. I certainly benefited from going through them. They helped me to fill out my own gaps in western music theory, and in many other ways.

You can find them here: https://www.activemelody.com/my-courses/

That link is also available from the Lessons main page, bottom of the left menu column.

Haha thanks Sunjamr for the welcome! I like the idea, will definitely try something creative around this :D.

Thanks Joe, currently practicing one of the old lesson. Will surely post it on the forum. For the monthly challenge, not sure I am skilled enough haha.

If I can do the challenges anyone can! All levels are welcome and it’s a great way to learn something new and get some positive and encouraging feedback. I missed the last one but I try to do them every month if possible.
