Happy new year to all.
I heard a gospel feel to this track. I added a chorus of a song by Robert Earl Keen called “ All I Have Is Today”. I love a lyric that says a lot in a few words. The guitar accompaniment is pretty much all A Major pentatonic. -

Loved it James. The words fit the vibe of the song perfectly, and you sang it as only you can. Your guitar work was simple and melodic, and also fit the song perfectly.
You always have a way of making a song your own, and putting your own stamp on it. You use the oldest trick in the book: Talent.

Really excellent James. Love your creativity of finding just the right lyric to go with the track. You must have a huge mental catalog of blues and gospel tunes to draw from. Really enjoyed it!

I’m a firm believer in the Power of Now – if only more of us would live in the moment 🤞; sure, learn lessons from the past, but don’t live in it, and don’t fret about tomorrow! Here endeth the lesson 😂😂😂♥️

Nifty combination of vocals and guitar-so much desperation in your song. Your tasty chops compliment the arrangement nicely.

I knew you’d think of a song to go with this backing track, James. Good for us, because we can listen to your beautiful singing. And your guitar playing keeps up with it. As always, a pleasure to listen to.

That was really cool, James! I’m reminded of a famous New Zealand band (Crowded House) who sang “Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you”.

Wonderful, James!
It seems like this track and gospel are a match made in heaven – especially when you added your expressive vocals to it! Another great lesson and a real song mash, excellent work on that one, as usual 🙂🎸JoLa

I love the way you incorporate a song into the challenges James. Pure brilliance. Nice song (unfamiliar with it but enjoyed it) and a very lyrical guitar part/parts to accompany. Happy New Year and all the best! 😎🎸😎

Always astounds me that you can find a song to fit the progression. Your musical knowledge must be expansive, James. Wonderful how you put all we learn into actual real life practice.
Love the t-shirt, also. It sums up why we pursue this guitar journey.

a very soulful playing and singing James, congrats!

I think we need a new topic area on the forum. “Ask James”. We put up an obscure backing track or progression and you name a song to go with it! It amazes me how you do this but you are the master. Excellent melodic playing and sweet singing.
I was just waiting for the pan to the right and for the gospel choir to pick it up when it ended🙂 -
