Michael’s Christmas offering brightened my Sunday morning. Thought I’d reshare my Nov 22 Challenge rare acoustic offering to join in the Christmas spirit.
Fun fact. To have the fireplace in the video I had to mime my recorded performance. After an early stumble it was pretty convincing if I say so, myselfđ.

Beautifully crafted and played, John! If you didn’t tell that you mimicked your recording for the video with fireplace I never would have noticed that! Thanks for re-sharing and Merry Xmas!

Really beautiful tone and ringing melody on this one John. Nice to see you playing an acoustic, too.
Do I see a AM Christmas album in the future? -

This is the most beautiful rendition of the First Noel I have ever heard!
Even the video itself put me in the holiday spirit – a true masterclass, John!
(I love when you bring out your acoustic)
Merry Christmas đđžJoLa

That is an exceptional beautiful version of that classic song. Now I really don’t understand why you never took up playing classical- you would be darned good at it ! đ.
Puzzled as to why you needed to mime the performance just to get that nice background.
You got me thinking I should pull out my Christmas songs for the classical guitar đž

Geoff, I think I recorded directly from my acoustics electronics into the DAW. I may have had a mic also. Anyway, the fireplace was in another room.
I think I got busy with University and the obsession of trying to get into medical school the year after I studied classical guitar. Guitar, in general, was on a long hold after that.

Hi John. I have listened to your rendition multiple times and I don’t think it could be improved. Nonetheless, you have inspired me to have a go at some Christmas songs that I could play at our family get together this Christmas.
This is not a difficult piece for me to play but I could not get those beautiful bell like tones out of my classical guitar – sigh đ.
I see now why you recorded it this way. Challenging but very convincing , if you had not mentioned it, I would not have know. If it was me, I would have simply layered myself on top of a fireplace scene but it would never look as good. Kudos to your attention to small details like that đ

Thatâs one glorious sound, almost bell like with the reverb. You should treat us to some more acoustic playing John, that was beautiful.
Iâll admit to occasionally miming a video too but then MTV built an entire channel out of doing that so I donât feel too guilty about it đ. -

John, that was by far the best version of that carol that I have listened to in years!! The sound was so smooth and chime like that it sounded like you were being accompanied by bells!! Merry Christmas to you and yours on this holiday season!!
