Hello A.M. members!
My approach was simple to this challenge. I simply played notes from the Am minor pentatonic scale to improvise my lead with the Quiet back track.
I am probably the only one using an acoustic/ electric guitar for this challenge, but it seems to work okay..
Looking forward to hearing you posts,🎶🎵Don P

Am is the way to go on this one Don. I’ve seen a surprising number of acoustic guitars on the track, but yours is the first plugged in one 🙂
Some nice ideas in here and you got in the groove nicely. -

Congratulations Don on a number of accounts, playing an acoustic against a full blown backing track and producing such a powerful submission.

Very nice Don. It was a solid melody throughout and I liked the way you ended it with a short, sharp strum.

Glad to see another rendition with the acoustic like mine, Don! And it’s an excellent one! Loved especially the second cycle with those high notes played like a virtuoso does (not easy with an acoustic without cut-away)! Very melodic and enjoyable to listen to!

Your brilliant sound fits very well with Quist’s BT Don! like it! well done!

Great submission Don – lots to like here. Your Taylor’s tone was perfectly suited to the backing track and your choice of notes was spot on.

You were not alone playing acoustic… and you did fine with it. You can’t go far wrong by staying in the minor pentatonic, and you included a lot of variety to keep things moving. Nice job.

Very nice improm Don.
I love the tone of your Taylor.
I know it must of been hard to play those high notes but well done.AndréM

Great soloing, Don! They say you can’t go wrong with the pentatonic scale but in my experience (I went wrong many times, lol) this isn’t as easy as it sounds. You didn’t hit any wrong notes here and played it with confidence. An impressive amount of acoustic guitar players this month, actually!

Just goes to show you can get a lot out of the ol’ pentatonic. Nice work exploring the fretboard too. 🙂

Hi Don, you’re not alone using the acoustic. That’s the only guitar I have, so there’s at least two of us! It’s not generally the first thing one thinks of for a blues lead, but it works. You’ve got some nice phrasing here, and follow the pentatonic shapes well. It was enjoyable to listen.

I already heard a few acoustic guitars in this challenge, Don. But with you, I was already sure before that it would be an acoustic. And you also prove that the acoustic fits very well with this backing track. In any case, you have found beautiful melodic lines to complement it.
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup is expected to take place in November 2025There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum in good time.
I look forward to meet you.

Quite a lot of acoustic guitars this month and that surprises me as well. This is very well played Don.

The acoustic works very well over this track as you skilfully demonstrated. You showed a great mastery of the pentatonics too with plenty of variety in your phrasing. Great improv👍

Nice Don! Great use of the whole fret board! Stayed off of beat one (critical for Blues licks) and gave us space between ideas! Well done

Good stuff, Don! You look really comfortable hitting your pentatonics all up and down the neck. Easier said than done, especially on acoustic!

That is so well played Don. Your melodic lines were tasteful and you expressed them with such assertiveness and confidence! And while I expect you, as an acoustic specialist, to play acoustic … you delivered a great performance with style. So good. Cheers, Tom

I really am impressed, Don. That sounded great! Tone was excellent and your played those pentatonic notes like a pro. I really hoped the two strums at the end were the beginning of a new round of playing. 😊 very well done 👍🏽👍🏽

Hi Don , yep your right the acoustic works a treat over this track ,
Nice use of the pentatonics in this outlining the chord tones .
I liked that ending or as Juxi mentioned it could also work as an intro .
Well played.Martin

It worked more than OK, … that was great. The selection of notes played out gave it a smooth rendition. Liked the strums ending too. Acoustics work well on this track.

It works very well with the acoustic, Don! The arpeggi sounded good and I liked that you went to the upper register.
