I admit it, I was never a Guns ‘n Roses or Ac/Dc fan, but this version of Killing Floor sounded pretty good to me. I never liked the way Brian Johnson sang but he surprised me on this song. And Steven Tyler on harmonica was just an added treat. What do you think?

Nice find, Joe
Like you I’m surprised at the musicianship there.
Still Hubert Sumlin and Howlin Wolf for me. They had more depth.

I agree, pretty great musicianship. I’ve seen some mediocre blues performances from Slash lately but he dialed up an awesome mix of rock, blues and country here.

I have to admit – I was skeptical about this when I first saw the video title. I’ve seen Slash “playing blues” in the past and I was not impressed at all.
Listening to this, sounds like Slash has gone to the woodshed and studied a little. Much better feel to it… in fact, this has some genuine feeling to it.I’m not a huge fan of Guns ‘n’ Rose or AC/DC but I admire Slash and Angus in those settings. Both great players in those styles

Thanks for posting this Joe. I doubt I’d have been tempted to click on it if I’d just come across it elsewhere. I’m not a fan of those high pitched screeching vocals of AC/DC (or Guns and Roses for that matter) and hadn’t seen a blues performance from Slash that I rated. But both protagonists delivered a terrific performances there.

In the past, when I’ve heard Slash “play” the blues it really sounded like Slash and not the blues. This one was different and actually impressed me.
This is a single from his recent album “Orgy Of The Damned” which is an album of blues covers and collaborations with some great musicians.

I just listened to Slash being interviewed and playing some of the new album on sirius xm bluesville. He did some tasty electric and acoustic blues covers live in their studio. He described how the collaboration came about with some great singers. Definitely worth a listen!
