Did anyone hear this new song from David Gilmour? The complete album should be released this September. I know there are a lot of Pink Floyd fans hear so I thought I’d post about it. It sounds like David Gilmour to me…and that’s a good thing!

Thanks Joe for posting this one! I’m a big fan of Gilmour and I didn’t know that he published something new and it’s a bit of a surprise, even though I knew he was working on the new album. I listened to the song 3 times now and my first impression is that it’s a very refined and good musical composition: I tried to play along it with my guitar and stil I don’t understand what key is it in, but I suspect there is at a least one modulation, if not even two! And the final solo is a very good classic rock solo on the two chords F – G(7)! I can say that I like very much this song musically! About lyrics: at first listening (reading the transcription made by someone, because usually I can’t comprehend every word sung in a song in English) they didn’t really captured me, but of course it’s not my native language and I suspend judgement. Anyway extremely happy for this new song and for the next ones that will be published soon!

I agree about the song…it get’s better each time I listen to it. The lyrics, seems to me, are typical Gilmour lyrics about youth and the dangers along the path one takes.
Take these birds everlasting
Can’t undo the voodoo that you do
And the knots that we fasten
Will not work themselves looseWhatever it takes
Steer clear of the snakesThe road to hell is paved with gold, they’ll tell you
All the things that you don’t need, they’ll sell youYour conscience uncontrolled
And beauty to behold
The promise of eternal youth
The spoils of fame, a carpe diem attitudeThe flamеs are high, the piper’s call, contagious
A fixеr who will numb your pain, and strangenessThe wheels are hot, the hangover outrageous
The stealer he will trade your soul for favoursBut you’ll reap what you sow
As I found long ago
The promise of eternal youth
The spoils of fame, a carpe diem attitudeJoe

Or the strength of an Oak with roots deep in the ground.

Definitely grows on you and very much in the Gilmour mould. Reminds me about of his “On An Island” style. I’m a big fan of his playing and his economy of notes in his soloing always blows me away. Do you think that’s the same Les Paul as was used on the Another Brick In the Wall hit? 👀
A new Knopfler album and now a new Gilmour album! I’m in a happy place 🤗-

As far as I know he sold that Les Paul in the famous charity auction some years ago, Andy. But also I red then that he declared that perhaps he would have bought back a couple of instruments. Really I don’t know, but what he’s playing in fact looks very much like a very old Les Paul!
