I uploaded this on the ‘Showcase Your Playing’ thread 4 days ago, and a subscriber mentioned that it would work for this January challenge. So a few of you have heard this already. The lesson I’m working on now doesn’t have any sequences in it, so I hope this isn’t ‘cheating’. It’s a long track and the first sequence isn’t until the 2:18 mark, if you want to skip ahead.

Great groove jam, Barry. Very intriguing for the listener. It really pulls you into the music. Reminds me of the fabulous jams of the 70s. And btw I have heard the cascading patterns. But I haven’t skipped ahead. No way!

Hey Barry. I like this the first time I heard it. Nope not cheating at all. Those licks at 2:18 or so are great and showed you were ahead of the curve =:).
Cheers,

Havent tried that lesson, but I’m inspired. Thanks for the tip 🙂

Once you’re in the groove, why stop? This had plenty of variety despite the underlying hypnotic track. As for the 4-note scale, you worked it in beautifully both forward and backwards with a nice light touch. Good tone on the guitar, too. That helped a lot.

Oh man, Barry – you make it look so easy!
Yeah, that sure qualifies, lucky you to have “predicted” the challenge theme! 😉
Fantastic playing 🎶🎶🎶

Hi Barry, great combination of rhythm and lead elements. I was watching your right hand and it kept the up/down beat almost the whole time. And your sequencing was spot on! Really enjoyed it.

You worked these patterns into a great jam Barry. You lead playing is very rhythmic and articulate. For some reason, I got a Doors vibe from this.

Well it may have been over two minutes in but what a monster when it arrived 😮. All the way down the scale and then plenty more ups and downs. That was a cool lead all the way through, plenty of variety from blues licks to rhythmic stabs. Great stuff 👍

Barry, I love it man! I watched it twice. You did a great job of employing triads with the four note patterns and you got a little theme going that you played in several different places on the neck. What really made your groove on this submission is your right hand. You kept the rhythm with that and I like the pick stops…you have them really tight… no excess movement. I think you are really talented and I love the groove man. Nice job! Cheers. Pap

Excellent improv Barry! You mixed in the cascading patterns all over the place, not just at 2:18. This was a perfect submission for this month’s challenge.

Great job Barry,
“EVEN I” could plainly hear the beautiful cascade of notes when they came up! No skipping ahead, it was enjoyable all the way thru. The kind of ‘jammy-jive’ tune I could have on play for hours! Thank you! I especially loved your laughter and the way even THAT was right IN TIME with the beat. Masterful.
Now I gotta figure out how to LOOP your playing – cause it’s definitely a joyful bit of soul that I didn’t want to end – even after 6min.+ !!!!Cheers,

That’s some seriously cool noodling, Barry. Those cascading scales are definitely easiest in 1st position pentatonic.

Hey Barry:
I admire both your playing and your “leveraged” post. Musical and smart! Your playing reminds me of the Doors “LA Woman” … that song rocks and so do you. Cheers, Tom -
