Very nice job on the rhythm Jean Luc. I learned Stevie’s solo for this but as I recall I could only get up to 80% of his speed.I will go back to it but as you suggest it may need to be revised for mere mortals.

Unusual to get a pure rhythm performance like this. Very nice work!

Probably one of my most favorite tunes (to listen to) and to dream about being able to play. You did SRV proud Jean Luc 🙂

Very very cool Jean Luc! Not at all an easy one to play and you were locked in with the backing track all the way through. Sounded awesome.
I am inspired to go back and work on that as it is a real challenge to get right.Cheers,
Marc

Hi Jean
Here is a link to the Buddy Guy version which I prefer and as the teacher here says SRV is paying tribute to Buddy in his version. This Guy gets it laid out preety well. There is coverage of the Buddy lead here too so should be of interest to you. I think a lot of folk see this as an SRV tune but it was actually a Buddy Guy beauty.

Hi Jean
I should have commented above on your take, which like the others I thought you have done extremely well and hope that the video input will help you get to the sort of lead you are hoping for.

Hi John
Thank you very much for the videos…I will be able to find some interesting ideas…I am attaching a link to a video by Earl Hooker “Two bugs and a roach” (1969).
I think the original comes from him ?
Not sure…jean luc G

Hi Jean,
I took a look at the web on this as you may have done already apparently Freddie King played this exact lick in 1961 and there was speculation as if Buddy had copied it either subconsciously or other wise. A Man and the Blues was released in 68 and Earl Hooker was recorded in 69. But that said they didn’t know if he had been playing prior which he may well have. I guess it would make for a good buddy interview to hear his take on it.-

OK John
So, it would be Freddie King first…
Thanksjean luc G
