Hi AM family,
“LEARNING TRIADS AND THEIR INVERSIONS ON THE FIRST 2 SETS OF STRINGS”
This is in the Key of “F” starting on the 5th chord which is “C” and moving up the scale in triads to the root chord “F”
So, the chords are C, Dm, Edim, and root chord F
Thanks for watching
Paddyboy
PS Clipchamp-video editor
Has anyone heard of windows free video editor? It’s called “Clipchamp”. It’s pretty cool, comes with Windows and pretty easy to navigate. check it out.
That’s what I used creating this video. I did 2 videos separately and put them together as one. The first video was the verbal explanation of my challenge and then the challenge.ALL IT TAKES TO WRITE A SONG IS........3 CHORDS AND THE TRUTH!

Hi Paddyboy, I agree! Triads are a great way to see the guitar neck and open up so much.

Good explanation, Paddyboy. We can never get enough of that. One thing I don’t understand is why the dim chord sounds so unpleasant to my ears. I understand the theory as to why the 7th chord should be a dim, but it doesn’t sound as good to my ears as a plain old minor 7 chord. I guess technically a minor 7 chord would fit into the mixolydian scale.

Hi Steve, I definitely agree that a diminished chord by itself sounds a little unpleasant. I would guess it’s because your stacking minor thirds which always makes a chord sound (dissonant) whereas with a major triad the dominant note is the 5th and that will make a chord sound more stable, (consonant).
I think of it like a major triad chord sounds great or “happy” a minor chord sounds a little lackluster or “sad” and a diminished chord sounds downright “pitiful” LOL

That is a good exercise to practice triads on the sets of strings especially the first two sets and in the key of your choice. It is a big world on the fretboard when it comes to triads. Keep up the good work.

Yes indeed, my lightbulb was about triads too! So useful, and they really helped me learn the fret board.
Great examples, and explained well. Thanks for sharing!

Nice submission, Paddyboy – I often think that I’d have got further faster by learning Triads rather than struggling to stretch my fingers to complete ‘cowboy chords’ when I first started learning the guitar 🤓

Hey Paddy, those triads and their inversions are priceless! The uses for those are limitless, so good you’re working on those and so should I. Thanks for the well done presentation!

Wow Paddy, you picked such a powerful theme! I love how you’re studying not only the triads in a given key but also their inversions, and across string sets! That’s foundational and I thank you for your clear explanation.
Cheers, Tom
