Blues Guitar Lessons

blues guitar lessonsSo what’s the deal with blues guitar? What is it about this form of music that so many of us love to listen to and long to play? I think it’s because blues-based music is at the root of everything. The predictable 1, 4, 5 chord progression is comforting to us because you can feel it, you know where it’s going, and I think that predictability decreases tension. It’s like slipping on a comfortable pair of slippers.

I fell in love with blues guitar for that very reason and I’ve been studying and playing it the better part of my life, yet I’m constantly learning and finding new ways to play things. It’s a life-long endeavor, and it’s extremely satisfying.

For years I kept it to myself, playing in bands or around the house, but not even attempting to teach it to others. That is, until YouTube entered the scene. I had the idea of creating blues guitar lessons long before YouTube of posting videos online, but hosting video was fairly expensive and bandwidth intensive and I knew it wouldn’t be easy for those videos to be discovered, plus I was concerned that no one would really want to take blues guitar lessons online. And then I saw others posting guitar lesson videos on YouTube and I realized that I could use this new platform to record and distribute videos, and share this art form with the world. I didn’t have tons of confidence in myself in the beginning (you’ll see that from some of my earlier blues guitar lesson videos posted on YouTube), but over time, I listened to all of the feedbacks, via comments, and continued to make tweaks and improvements. Like anything, I’m always a work in progress, but I’ve discovered a guitar lesson format that resonates with people and truly teaches the blues guitar art form.

So if you have an interest in learning how to play blues guitar or an interest roots based guitar lessons, be sure to look through the hundreds of blues guitar lessons that I’ve posted through the years. I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for.
