Hey everyone,
I am not an active participant on this forum. I have been a member for many years & love the lessons. I am 57 & started songwriting & recording a few years ago….it’s really where my passion is. I have posted my last(only) 2 albums in the past. that recording project/band is called Skullz in the Desert. Anyway, this summer I reconnected with an old grad school buddy who I had not seen in over 20 years. We recorded 5 songs & then slowly added some ringers (trumpet, steel, fiddle). I am very fortunate to live about a mile from a home studio that caters to amateur musicians.
On this recording, I would say that AM stuff is evident in the blues licks in Rose Wine. But Blacklight Armadillo would probably either suck or not exist w/o AM/Brian. I added 2 guitar parts with one being directly informed by Brian’s lessons on triads (little chords). My friend had done what I would typically do which is strum the chords. This left me with the task of finding something interesting to add. Thank god for the triad lessons!!! Hope you get a chance to hear some. Cheers!

This is very impressive. The songs all have terrific lyrics and interesting chord changes. Living in Tucson myself, I very much appreciate the desert vibe. Well done.

Very nice songs and amazing production! Liked all the songs and my favorite ones are the ballad “Drive Somewhere” and especially the title track “Blacklight Armadillo”!

Really impressive songs, Frederick. And so well produced in my opinion. Music from the desert for the rest of the world. „Drive Somewhere“ is my favorite.
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom.
The next Meetup will take place on May 31There will be a detailed announcement here in the forum in the next days..
I look forward to meet you.

Thanks & thanks to everyone for listening. About the chord changes. the tunes with the more int chord changes were org surf tunes. My buddy was in a surf band. Musically, I’d’ve never been so “fancy”. there is a key change in 1 tune & even a diminished chord. It was a fun project & a little diff way of doing things for me which was a learning experience like everything else in music.
