I was ripping through some of Brian’s lessons and came across an exploration of the D major scale in an open D Major chord concept (the lesson escapes me now), he mentioned Norwegian Wood having similar movement. So I decided to give it a little fingerstyle plink around:

Thanks Bill! Haha, yeah with a bit more work. I was able to work in a few of my own twiddly bits. 🙂

I thought this tune was familiar and on googling I realized this was a classic Beatles song.
This was very nicely played CT. You have a great touch on the accoustic steel string.

Thanks @Geoff! The song really is a fun exploration of the major scale. If you have a steel string acoustic you might want to try these Silk and Steel strings from D’Addario. They do sort of have a feel and tonal quality a lot like nylon strings. They seem easier on the fingers as well.

Thank you sir! It’s plinking in the sense of finger style I suppose. I don’t recall ever seeing a cover of it finger style, which admittedly loses some clarity and accuracy, but IMHO adds a bit of warmth. I appreciate the comment!

Good stuff, CT. I was surprised at how good that sounds just as a standalone guitar solo.

Thanks Mark T! I made sure to set up some mood lighting in my little studio. The starry night and nebula projector add a calming vibe in the evening. 🙂

All the best to you sir as well! Cool comment. I use filters and such to hopefully smooth out some of the “rough edges” visually. LOL

DeniseThanks Denise! Your comments are always so supportive. I wouldn’t even know how to stop posting now. It’s like a quiz at the end of a lesson, to prove that I actually learned “something” in a week’s time. It’s highly motivating, makes me want to learn more and become a better player.

Thanks Bob! I appreciate the kind words. I would call this song dark pop. The relationship in this song was not a healthy one at all. Now the ultimate question is, was he burning the cheap pine furniture in the fireplace or did he torch the whole room? So “I lit a fire” is not particularly innocuous in either case. 🙂
