Here is mine contribution to the EP027 Group Challenge. I’m happy with my progress of starting to improvise in my lead playing. This was a great exercise for me as I see where I want to improve.
Enjoy!

Bryce,
Really enjoyed your split screen presentation. Your lead guitar playing got better and better the more you got into it. Great job. Thank you for sharing. -

Now that’s what I’m talking about! Great way to inject some old time blues into a 1-4-5 progression.
Really enjoyed your presentation… -

That was wonderful!! I love the sound of your guitar, too. You had such great licks and a feel that was so true to the sound and groove of the piece. Awesome playing!!
Cheers. -

Two Bryce are more than twice as nice!
That was great Bryce. You really handled the rhythm part well and you had so many tasty licks in the second half. Your bends and vibrato were impressive, especially on an acoustic. I’m going to steal your lick at 2:05. Great work on the lead.
For fun, I’d like you to try something. Try a major pentatonic lick over the 1 chord and use your minor licks over the 4 and 5 chords and see how it sounds.
That split screen video is an AM first and on my “to do” list. Raising the bar, my friend!

Yeah Bryce, you’ve REALLY improved over the last several months! That was pretty cool with both screens going. Great playing!
The word is out, that you’re just rolling in cash so I’m hoping on the next video to see the new Gibson 120th anniversary model (doves in flight) that you’re keeping stashed in the closet!Jim

While watching the lead, and trying to figure out how you did the split screen/overdub, it suddenly occurred to me how rock steady your rhythm playing was. Very nice indeed. You had lots of great ideas in your lead playing. My only suggestion is that you pick an idea, or a small fragment for a chorus and try to develop it. Otherwise the playing tends to sound like one lick after another. Solid playing.

I didn’t see ya bang’n them toes on the ground Bryce. Weather must be getting too cold. 🙂
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

I agree with what you said Duffy (@duffyprattcomcast-net). That is one of the things I plan to work on. I also plan on really working on staying in the pocket with my lead playing.

Nice Bryce! And at :45 seconds into it, *BAM! There’s a second Bryce! I wanted to put on 3D glasses to see if you’d pop out of my screen 🙂 That was some great playing my friend. I can tell you’ve come a long way from some of your earlier posts back in the summer. It’s nice to see you keeping consistency in that rhythm, and to keep that going for 4 minutes even. I liked the lead stuff a lot too – very bluesy, laid back. I heard a few Ry Cooder things in there (not sure if that was intentional). Here’s 2 things you may want to try to break things up a bit. 1) Try switching to the major pentatonic scale and then going back to the minor, and 2) try changing scales when the chords change. i.e. when it goes to the D part, play the D minor pentatonic (or D major pentatonic) and you’ll see what I mean. Great stuff though man.

Good one Bryce! I really liked the split screen not to mention your playing. That was awesome! And I think you are doing a really FANTASTIC job bringing everyone together with these group lessons. I’m looking forward to learning the next one already.

Wow Bryce, you really nailed it, How did you do that split screen thing!!!! or was that your twin brother flown up from Florida? Your really raising the bar with this and your playing is getting better and better. Do you go to work? or have you been playing 8 hours a day! haha. I cant wait to get my hands on a guitar again and join in with everyone. I will have to go into hiding for months to catch up with you all. treat yourself to that Gibson! you deserve it! cheers Phil (aka Badger)

Love it; Bryce you come up with the goods there man and aha the cloning; Bryce is gonna take over the word LOL! Seriously this was great and I agree with everyone the rock-steady rhythm and bluesy lead, well all hail AM member of the month!
You always give time to help with technical advice, general support and them hit the ball out of the park with this, the question is how Bryce’s did you really clone?
