Just got to wondering why ( I can be slow at times ) the name Pink Floyd and after all these years found out Pink was Pink Anderson and Floyd’s second name was Council both coloured piedimont style blues players and Syd Barret had recordings of both
players in his collection. Also first time I have herd of these two.
From Wikipedia
They were previously known by Sigma 6, T-Set, Megadeaths, Abdabs and The Pink Floyd Sound
The group first referred to themselves as the Pink Floyd Sound in late 1965. Barrett created the name on the spur of the moment when he discovered that another band, also called the Tea Set, were to perform at one of their gigs.[21] The name is derived from the given names of two blues musicians whose Piedmont blues records Barrett had in his collection, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.[22]
This is a must know fact for every baby boomer, classic/acid rock fan. Thanks, V.
John
There was a guy named Mike Cooper who toured the blues clubs in U.K. in the 70’s and played many of Pink Anderson and Floyd Council’s numbers; he was always inspirational in his deliverance.
Good post Vorocnan.

Looked on YouTube and there was a Mike Cooper did some sessions for John Peel I don’t recall him now but spent many nights listening to Peel I think he helped many starting out artists probably including Pink Floyd.
Appears the education systems have been listening to Pink Floyd most kids get left a loan now to pay off
