Your extra practice Don is certainly paying off brilliantly. Taking the swing out of it improved it considerably, I would like you to have slowed it even more to improve the transitions and a great addition would be to deaden the bass by palm-muting which would give the backing a brilliant soft thump.

I’ve included a piece I did some while back as an example of the palm-muting effect I was trying to describe.
The first 24 bars are from Brian’s lesson but the remainder is very much as you’ve played it. eg: Robert Johnson. -
That was great. I think the postioning on your picking hand was pretty good to. The only comment I would make is you may want to pay attention to alternating the index and the middle finger in some spots. If you are able to alternate fingers well that really helps with speed (I don’t think I always get that right either by the way -:))

Good one, Don. I’m guessing that’s a Taylor GS Mini you’re playing, one of my favorite guitars. Maybe you could try muting the drone bass a bit. There are two ways to do that: (1) palm muting, and (2) thumb muting, where you just touch your thumb back onto the string right after you pick it. I tend to use the thumb muting technique most of the time, because it targets only the string you want to mute, not all of its neighbors. Bass players do it all the time.
