Hello friends I hope everyone is staying safe and having a nice Sunday.
I came across this lesson while mooching for material for last months lesson and would have liked to have used it but the backing track ruled it out so here is my take on it.
I noted in the description that Brian reckons a beginner could accomplish most of this but I don”t mind telling you that I did not find this easy at all!
Apart from that it was super fun to learn and play so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Thanks for watching,
Liam.

Very well done, Liam! Very bluesy, you also mastered the fast parts very well. Great retro guitar setting!

Thanks Denise. Took a while to get the tone I used a bends compressor and a BD2 driver through a Marshall DSL5CR

Well done Liam that’s quite a tricky but great sounding lesson to get to grips with. Some pretty agile finger work at tempo and you are well on the way with it. Well done and a great choice of lesson to learn.
I haven’t had a go at it for a while and I don’t know if I can get it as good as that maybe time for a revisit. Well played

That was great, Liam! You inspired me to try some of the parts I couldn’t get a few years ago.

Good one, Liam. That lesson has been in my permanent repertoire for years. I play it both electric and acoustic, and most of the time I play it standalone with no jamtrack. Here’s the trick: Whenever you can, add in a drone bass. “But how?” you ask. Answer: Play it in the key of A. Also, you may have to make a few minor changes to some of the licks to facilitate the drone bass better.

JohnStratYes very tricky indeed. Definitely give it another go John if you can play it through 4 times on the slow walkthrough without making any mistakes then it’s time to speed it up – I used the intro video to play along with to get the speed up.

Well done Liam. Definitely agree with you. I remember when I learnt this and Brain inferred it was a beginner’s type lesson. The single line runs at Bar 14 and 20 especially are very difficult at speed and you played them well. Great sound you’re getting from your set up also and your Epiphone is just the guitar for this. All the best!

Thanks Garry.
Yeah I think he should have maybe rephrased it as an “reasonably accomplished” lesson lol.
You’re right about the Epiphone – I first started learning it on my Tele but it just didn’t have the right bite and sounded a bit too glassy. The BD2 and compressor were a big help in getting the sound.

A lot of brian’s earlier lessons tend to be overlooked, I suppose that’s the price paid for having such a vast library.
You handled that very well indeed Liam and got the whole thing up to speed.
Well done man...Billy..

Yeah I’m sure there are plenty more gems like this in the archives but you’re right it would take forever trawling through them all!

That was great Liam! That lesson was one of my favorites and helped me get up to speed playing with a backing track. Love your guitar..I have it in the same color.

Thanks Mike,
Yeah I love my Epiphone although I’ve had it modded with a Filtertron bridge pick up so it’s not completely original.
It still thinks it’s 100% authentic though so we don’t talk about the operation in front of it 😉

Ahahah, the same for me Liam! I never tried to play this lesson, but I can guess it’s not easy at all with all these very fast phrasings, bendings, slides and everything. And you managed to play this piece very well!

Thanks Bob,
Had to mess with the compressor and volume quite a bit to stop it sounding shrill but yeah I like how it sounded in the end…
