This has been quite a project. I am playing the track with my Transcribe software at 80% speed. There are a couple of places where I need to work on my timing. But I honestly didn’t think I would get this far with this lesson.
I am playing through my little Fly 3 amplifier. It seems to get a really nice Hendrix sound.

Hey Roger! Great choice on lesson: Jimi rocks! And his vibe is soooo hard to match. Maybe SRV came the closest. And he was pretty good in his own right – LOL! I love your passion for the lesson and your passion while playing. May I make some suggestions? One, tell that curtain on your left hand to take a hike. That damn thing kept hitting your hand the whole song! And timing: yes. May I recommend you turn off the backing track and count it out loud at your own pace at first – every single beat even if it is dog slow. I mean, “ONe and a, two and a, three . . . ” style. Then play the track at 50% until you nail it! Then try 75%, mess it up. Then go to 60%, nail it! Then 90%, mess it up. Then 80% and so on until you can play the really tough parts so the rest seems like a breeze. You’ve got the chops and skill. Just a thought. I hope it’s ok with this advice. Cheers and Rock On! Bob

I appreciate the comments. I have been working with this on slower pace. I played without the track for a couple of weeks before I started using the track. I use transcribe software. I began at 60% speed and have been slowly raising the percentage by 5% at a time. Today I hit 80%. That is where I am working on it now.
Typically I practice outside on my patio. Today it was raining in the morning before my practice time and my patio furniture was still all wet. So subsequent videos will most likely be on the patio and no curtain. 🙂

Its coming along nicely though Roger, speed comes with memory, it cant be ingrained without learing something new slowly, it also helps with building vibrato.
As Bobby said, count it out or even play the song in your head at a tempo ypu feel comfortable with.
3 months down the line youll be wondering just what you were fussing about....Billy..

You’ve got this Roger!
A couple of things that have made this piece difficult are the full bend on the third string at the second fret. And jumping from that hammer on on the second fret of the 4th string to the bends on the 14th fret of the second string.
Those bends on the 2nd fret of the third string are why I call this Evil Brian’s Finger Torture piece.

You’ve got a great sound and feel going there Roger. Well done. I agree with the advice above regarding learning everything spot on at lower speeds then gradually work your way up. Yes, the bend on the second fret 3rd string is difficult as I’ve just recently posted this one myself. What gauge strings do you have? You could go lower possibly. All the best with your playing.

Evil Brian’s Finger Torture
“La douleur passe, la beauté reste.” [August Renoir – Impressionist painter]
Pain passes, beauty remains.i like the sound and the heavy blusey feeling.
Where does the white go when snow melts?

To Phil’s quote (Renoir): When running my marathons, I have to tell myself, “Self, pain is temporary, but your time on the internet is FOREVER!” LOL That bend close to the nut is a finger buster. Great job and keep at it. Like Billy said, in three months you will blow right thru this tune/style. Bob

Sounding really good, Roger! Your timing is tight to my ear, and you are getting some really good tones out of your guitar with the Fly amp. Nice feel for the lesson also. Can only get better and better with more practice.

That’s a tough one. The timing is hard to get right all the way through. Keep up the good work. Loved it..
