My first guitar was my small Epiphone Cortez which was designed for accompaniment. Here is my beloved little Epi doing what it was made for, adding some little touches to an already beautiful song.
For me, this is the ultimate highlight of playing guitar, sitting in like this, asking what key you’re in, and then just keeping it simple.

Here is my friend Joanne Does doing her original song Follow Your Light live at London Music Club. I think this is the recording i’m most proud of.
I gotta say, music brings so much joy into my life.

This was certainly a beautiful song, Moose. Your friend is a talented singer song writer and you did an excellent job accompanying her. Bravo! Sounded like a great night of music!

Very beautiful. Musical spirits of ones soul is shining in her voice.

The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Nice job Roger, a beautiful song, you’re so right when you say that playing with others is the ‘ultimate highlight.’ The buzz you get is indescribable when compared to other activities.

I see it just like you; listen, identify the note key and then properly follow it. I do it as an exercise by opening something on YouTube and then accompanying it; it helps me a lot. Anyway, Roger, I’m following your style of play well. Everything you play has one, in my view, considered and harmonious foundation; it like it very much. This track shows it especially; very emotional additions from you.

Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

                                    thanks Wilf, very kind words.

I get called on a lot to accompany local singers and i think it’s because of a few rules that I follow:

                                    1. Listen hard
                                    2. Keep it simple
                                    2. Repeat little melodic phrases that echo the main melody
                                    3. Use double stops

A good teaching example for anyone interested in accompaniment for singers is the little fill from 3:05 to 3:30; I just repeated the main melody using double stops, did a little walk around the major scale, then repeated that little walk using double stops.

It’s 05:00 here on a cold frosty Tuesday Morning and I can’t for the life of me think of listening to anything better to start a day off, wonderful song which your guitar work blends so seamlessly in to.
A well deserved round of applause Roger.
