In 1969, Woodstock quickly catapulted Alvin Lee and Ten Years After to fame and made Big Red, Lee’s iconic Gibson ES-335, a legendary guitar.

The British blues-rock act was no stranger to American audiences, but neither was it well-known. The group had supported Canned Heat on tour, and its third album, Stonedhenged, released in early 1969 had reached 61 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The ES347 I think the first guitar to be fitted with TP6 tail pieces which came into being in 1978. Its inventor was a Gibson employee named Rendall Wall. He fitted one to a Lucille which he delivered to BB. With modern scanning technique such as are use for paintings by old masters etc I am sure the original body serial numbers would be worth investigating for such a valuable Guitar. cheers John Strat
