Today is the 84th anniversary of James Cotton’s 1935 birth; seems like a good day to pull these out.
This was his first single, recorded on May 14, 1954, in Memphis. James Cotton (vocals, percussion), Pat Hare (guitar), Mose Vinson (piano), John Bowers (drums). Not sure why he didn’t play harmonica on this record.
Here’s a playlist with lots of tasty stuff. The International Pop Festival in 1969 was with Luther Tucker just about setting the guitars and amps on fire.

This is what I called the International Pop Festival. One out of three, but Luther Tucker’s guitar should appeal to rockers’ sensibilities. A lot of blues purists didn’t care for it, but I think it’s great. James Cotton had some of the best bands all through his career.
