About the 22:45 mark of the first video, there’s an explanation for where the notes in the 14th and 15th bars come from. This is the part after the 10th fret double stops.

Video says the notes after the double stop are G major pentatonic pattern 4. That’s mostly true except in measure 14, the 8th fret 1st string is not in G major pentatonic. It is in G minor pentatonic.

After that, its all what the video says – G major pentatonic pattern 4.

I’m just curious about that 8th fret in measure 14 because it doesn’t match the video description.

I noticed that also, that note is a C or the 4th in the G major scale. It’s often added into the G major pentatonic scale. I think Brian used it in the Warren Haynes lesson. That note is also used in the B.B. Box as a slight modification to position 4 of the major pentatonic.

Occasionally, JJ Cale did that also. I think it’s legal.

Well, I was mistaken. Brian is right. G major pentatonic in that area is box 3. Root on the A string fret 10 and a root on the B string fret 8. Play through box 3 there and you’ll hit the e string fret 8 like he said.

Nope, now you’re confusing yourself, bluesdaddy, you were right the first time. Box 3, G major pentatonic starts on fret 5 of the low E string and ends on fret 7 of the high E. Box 4, G major pentatonic hits frets 7 and 10 of the high E. The note in question is the 8th fret high E string. That note is C or the 4th of the key of G major. The major pentatonic doesn’t contain a 4th or 7th, so see my earlier reply.
You were also, right that the note is in the G minor pentatonic and the interval is, as above, the 4th. The minor pentatonic has a 4th and a flat 7th but no 2nd or 6th.
