Description

In this week’s guitar lesson, you’ll learn how to play a David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) style lead. This includes several classic Gilmour style bends and does require an electric guitar. I’ll show you how to use these licks when improvising.

David Gilmour style lead + the surf green JB strat 🎸+ the tone setting explained + fantastic lesson by Brian = Pure Bliss!
    Simply amazing, thank you, Brian!

I also think it was a great idea to include jam track in the slow walk-through video. I know I have been wishing for that in many other lessons to better understand the timing. Is there any chance you could do that more often? … always? … please? 😍

It is really great how the soundtrack also comes through in the Soundslice. I agree with Jola, this is really helpful. Is there any chance you could do that more often?…always?…..please? (not doing the love you thingie).

    Great lesson!
This is a good break from some of the faster pace lessons. Love Gilmore’s soulful leads at a slower pace. It helps me work in my timing.
    Thanks Brian

    Another “hi” from Wales UK.

Awesome lesson on the great one! Love it!

I really enjoyed your last Gilmore video (a while back). I was even thinking of writing in to request another one; so I’m delighted with this lesson. Kudos and thanks!

Very cool, Brian!! It’s sort of like a melding of Robert Cray meets David Gilmour all played on that nice Jimmy Vaughn Strat!! Both Robert and David have those expressive soloing tones but in their own distinct style and this lesson gives ActiveMelody.com members a great introduction into how they can pull ideas from a couple of guitar greats and make it their very own!! David Gilmour is one of the all time greatest guitarist. His melodies are a combination of many styles and very pleasing to the ear. Brian, thanks for sharing some of his musical inspirations with us.

The backing tracks added to the on screen viewer really helps! I used that primarily to learn the tune but then when i wanted to play it with the backing track i would have to open the screen viewer to full and get as much of the tab on screen as i could. Then i would open another screen to play the backing track. I would then jam along until i ran out of tab on the full screen, as i could not play the tab viewer because it would be out of sync with the track. Now that it’s all in one i can play along 70,80,90,100 until i get it down and have the track synced up with the tab viewer. Excellent!

All I can say is, this is an epic lesson! My approach to learning it will be to download the demo onto my iPhone, then play it on repeat through my car radio while I’m driving around for the next week. By then all the subtle nuances should be burned into my brain, and I can start learning the fingering.

That’s a good idea, i think i’m gonna try that. Listening is such a key to learning as the brain will somehow tell the hands what to do when it knows what it wants to hear.

Good One Brian. Nice composition & typical assured touch & feel.

Glad to be a new member. (yesterday)

One question please (3 parts) what Pickups, Pedals & Amp?

I’m a big fan of a) Strats & b) New Pedals (Keeley Aria comes tomorrow!)
    c) Amps are gettin’ expensive!

Thanks for the lessons & especially if you (or a commenter) have time & the answer(s).

I just started working on this lesson because I need to improve my bendings. What could be better for this than a David Gilmore style EP?! I haven’t gotten far yet, but it is already addictive! Also I need to chime in on the new Soundslice feature. It is very helpful to have the backing track in there, too, now. A few lessons in the past have had some tricky timing and I wished I would have had the backing track. Thanks for this added feature!
