I did a Craigslist trade of my yellow Squier telecaster for a FrankenStrat to use as my office guitar. The guy that built this said the body was from a Squier Affinity but I’m fairly certain it is a Bullet. The neck came from a guitar show and has a distressed and vintage look. It feels like it is old and has a Fender decal on it that matches the decals from ’63-’64. He never made any claims to what it was, but I initially thought it might be a vintage neck. Further research says otherwise. The shape is wrong and Fender didn’t have the headstock truss adjustment then from what I can tell.
Doesn’t matter. It is a very light guitar with an old school feel that plays very comfortably and has a cool sound. For its purposes of getting some lunchtime practice or after hours jamming it suits perfectly.
Dave K’s acquisition of his Blackstar HT-5R gave me a hankering to try a 12″ speaker with my modified Bugera V5 tube amp. I found a used Bugera TS112 for $89 at GuitarCenter, so I ordered it. It came in like new condition. My V5 has a really warm, clean sound that can easily dirty up if I need. Really it is a perfect and inexpensive bedroom blues amp that can be cranked if needed. The 12″ speaker gives slightly fuller sound than the built in 8″ speaker and still retains the very warm character. I love the combination.
