        Hello AMer’s.
My biggest goal as a guitar player is to be able to play some of the music I grew up with, Cream, Early Santana and eventually on to some SRV, Robert Cray along with several others. The biggest roadblock has simple been technique, mainly flat out pick speed. So even though this is a baby step, it’s still a step in the right direction. I was pleased with it, and that doesn’t happen often. Haha. Like many of us I’m my biggest critic.
It’s just the main solo, I had conquered the whole song a while back but struggled with the lead parts.

        Thanks for watching!

Hummm, you probably noticed my squished video. I had this happen back in Dec challenge, thought I figured it out in Jan challenge, apparently not.
Anyone have any ideas on what’s happening here. I’m using irig recorder with an ipad. They record just fine but once I share them with my PC it becomes hit or miss. Weird…….
To bad irig recorder doesn’t share directly to YouTube like it does to SoundCloud.

Wow rob that was terrific!! I love that long slide to the higher part of the neck and the use of the vibrato!!
Sorry no clue for the video..
            thanks for sharing it

Hey Rob, that was a great solo, very solid and confident playing from you. Out of interest, when you record with your iPad, do you do anything extra regarding audio?
Regards your iRig’s inability to save direct to YouTube, I also have to share the file to my PC Desktop and then upload from there.

The only thing I typically do is increase the volume and add a tad of reverb. Sometimes I’ll cut it as well. Hummm, you may be on to something. I wonder if every time I “alter it” the file somehow becomes Larger? And if it’s too large it mutates upon sharing to the PC?
I’ll have to experiment with that idea.

Well done, Rob. Did you get the lead off Mike Brookfield on YouTube? He’s got some great lessons but no tabs.

                        Hey John, thanks!
I did get that from Mike Brookfield, I’ve never seen any others from him but will have to have a look now. And yes the lack of tab makes it a bit more difficult.

                            Rob,
Nice playing on this one. I had a run at this tune a number of years back. I have a set of tabs for all parts – lead, rhythm, bass and drums. Just had a listen to them, and they sound reasonably accurate. Not sure where I got them from, but I use Guitar pro, and I suspect I found them on their site, when the tabs were free.

Really nice job Rob. Sounds great and is ready for the stage. There is that one descending bit where the timing has to be just right, and you nailed it. I also thought the long slide up to the higher register was great.
I remember trying to learn this from his ‘From The Cradle’ CD when it first came out. I didn’t get as far as you did.
Thanks for posting. I can’t remember, was that a Freddie King song?

That descending bit was the trickiest part for sure. Yes, I do believe this is a Freddie King original.

I’ve been into settings for both the iPad itself and the irig recorder app. I don’t see anything there. When it happened to me back in the Dec challenge I convinced myself I had the “Video Quality” set to high, so I lowered it for the Jan challenge and it worked fine.
Once I record them in the irig recorder and play them back on the iPad there’re great, it’s after sharing to my PC that they mutate.🤔

Ipads have a squarer 4.3 display than a usual monitor display I think that 4.3 is being stretched to to 16.9 youtube upload page settings has changeable aspect ratio settings might be possible to change it back there, or some software on pc might do it.

That’s one of my favorite Clapton solos, you did it some serious justice. Loved your tone, you had that right amount of fuzzy overdrive going there (I believe the original was played on a 335? At least I’ve seen several period live performances where he’s playing this song on a 335).

I did a cover of this song that I posted a few years back that, in retrospect was lacking the tone you have here. Maybe it’s time I revisit this… Thanks for posting, Rob!

The biggest roadblock has simple been technique, mainly flat out pick speed.

Same here; those were my guitar idols and i’m still trying to play like them. And like you say, biggest roadblock to really getting it down is picking speed. And that’s a long slow road increasing pick speed, but there’s no short cut.
You’re definitely well along the road, great runs, timing, phrasing. You’re there, man. Rock on.
