Been looking for a single coil-ish guitar for quite a while, but with limited fundage, I began to think creatively. I found a guitar on Craigslist for $20. A lady was selling her kid’s guitar because he had lost interest. And no wonder as the guitar was a wreck! I made a little video of the repair process and did a sound check at the end. This was really fun and no have my hopes set on doing a DIY Tele kit – either from the Fretwire or from Solo Gear Music.

Hi Duncan, congratulations on the reclamation project! It sounds great. I’ve read that wood glue is stronger than the wood itself so that if you can get the repair glued back into the original position it will be as good as new. – Bret

Duncan,
That looks like a fun project, there must be something very satisfying about bringing a dead guitar back to life! Not just that, I love the documentary you did about the process, you took some great photos, too!
I also admire your dedication because this guitar you bought was in a really sad state. I wouldn’t think it was revivable but you did it! Congratulations and thanks for sharing the story.🎸JoLa

Good project! But what I wonder is, what kind of a doofus would damage a guitar to that extent in the first place? And why did his mom even go to the effort to try to sell it for $20? Most moms would have put it straight into the trash. But now it’s maybe in better condition than when it was new.
