First off, I think guitars are way overpriced…but it is what it is I guess. Anyway…
Been saving for a while and was ready to order my dream guitar, a Gibson ES-355. Have always been a larger guitar & semi-hollow body fan and enjoy the sound of the wood resonating. Enjoy the sound of a Les Paul, but damn…that’s a weighty piece of wood. Well, a buddy got a Fender Eric Clapton Artist Series Strat and WOW! Is that one sweet axe!! The V-shape of the neck is super comfortable, has a wide nut, and the maple fret board bends just as easy as the ebony 355 fret board. Never even considered a Strat b/c I’m not a fan of hum, same reason I’ve steered away from P90s. However, this strat has these noiseless PU’s and now I’m doing some serious rethinking. Plus, it has a built in boost that gives it some overdrive without a stomp box.
The artist series is about two grand less than the 355 and the custom shop EC Strat is about the same. Can anyone tell me if the custom shop really worth the extra money?
Thanks
