Literally just enrolled in the yearly membership. I clicked on Beginner lessons (easy) and up came 88 lessons. Where do I begin? Does it matter? I expected lessons to be in some sort of logical order beginning with #1.

You should receive 3 courses in your My Courses page – 1. Essential Theory, 2. The CAGED System and 3. Lead Guitar Course.
Newbie myself – Welcome!

Yep as Terry said, if you are a premium member then you get all the courses from beginner to lead playing, if your not a premium member then just jump in to something you think is your level.

Welcome Frank. I think most of us just picked an EP lesson we liked and jumped right in and learned it. No previous experience necessary. HINT: Some of the earlier lessons are shorter and easier than the recent ones.

Hi Frank, welcome to AM. The “EP” stands for Episode… it’s how Brain labels his weekly lessons. “ML” is MicroLesson, the shorter ones that are not always posted weekly, but often.
All the lessons are really teaching Brian’s way of seeing the guitar and building your fretboard knowledge. Each lesson has some elements of this, and over time it all begins coming together for you. So, just jump in with lessons you like. Take them in any order that seems good to you, and you’ll get the learning happening and build a collection of pieces you enjoy playing. Also, participating in the monthly Member Challenge is a great way to give yourself a goal to work toward. See the AM Announcements thread in the forum for the current months challenge idea.
Have fun!

Hi Frank Welcoem to Active Melody this is a great place to learn to play guitar and you have lucked out in finding it in muy view, there are many sites which can waste your time bu this is perhaps the best site of all in many of its members view. Follow what goes on here by diving in and you will learn as qickly as anywhere. EP stands simply for episoed another prefixe LEG which was about 30 odd early lessons prior to this site being set ut fully. They are listed and many are very good LEG stands for legacy Lessons. Pre EP091 dont have the soundslice feature which was added from that point forward. If you area complete beginner then run through the course as suggested there are the main lessons and also Miccro lessons. As others say you may wish to pick something you like the sound of is in line with your playing goals and get stuck in Micro lessons are short and sweet in the main. Its always a bit of a slow start but porgereess will accelerate the more you put in the more you will gain.

I think 90% of the lessons are for advanced players. I’m a late beginner and had to watch all 450+ lessons and pick out all the ones I think I could learn! I would like to see the lessons separated into 3 groups. Beginner, intermediate and advanced. When we start schooling we start in the 1st grade, then into high school, then college. Brian’s lessons are mostly college level so I don’t know where to start. Brian said he tried this idea before and it caused a lot of confusion. Other guitar teachers start in the 1st grade. The easy lessons first and graduate up to playing like a pro.

I have just joined after watching you tube.
Got myself a acoustic guitar.
Somehow the brain doesn’t work with the fingers yet and the sound.
Well it would be better if I could press the mute button.
Still have to start somewhere now that I am retired from work. -

Saw a Utube lesson by Brian numbered BLG005 but I seem to find it on the collection of lessons. Can anyone point me to it?
Thanks
Ian
