Man this was the first time I watched BillyStrings.. I doubt I can play that fast in my remaining years..I think it takes a whole life time of playing professional like these folks.. sure is fun though trying.. I think the cool thing is we can find great tutorials for free online .. speed picking flatpicking isn’t exactly rocket science . there are important detailed steps on how to properly learn flat picking.. I know SHARED one of the links yesterday but there are more I’m checking out too… it’s good to let the right hand know what the left hand is doing and visa verse!

Molly’s playing is terrific. Amazing flatpicking.
It’s hard to see clearly because she is playing so fast, but isn’t she hitting the strings with surprisingly little angle on the pick? I think some instructors say we should angle the pick at about 45 degrees, especially for fast playing, but whatever Molly is doing she is getting fantastic results. I find for my own playing I get the best results with a shallower angle than 45 degrees, but certainly some angle on the pick seems needed for it to pass over the strings smoothly. I would be very interested to learn others’ views on what works best for them and what they think Molly is doing.
