This morning 2 years ago I made the decision to join Active Melody. After discovering Brian on youtube and following several lessons, it became clear that my days wandering in the internet guitar desert were over!
When I decided to get serious about re-learning guitar focused on the blues I started by learning all the old songs and songs I had always wanted to learn by Hendrix, Cream, Clapton, the King’s, etc. I made a lot of progress because that’s what we used to do in the day, I wasn’t learning from scratch, just needed to put in the time. But felt constrained and it’s frankly hard to play many of those songs for friends and family, even myself without the singing….Active Melody hit a major chord (lol), because I could work on significant pieces of music that sound awesome on their own, that I could jam over and filled with new techniques and theory….could I play Red House before AM, yes….but now I can do my own version of Red HOuse, or jam and even simple creation of new music….confidence and structure is what Brian added. I’m at a whole new level thanks to Brian’s work.
Finally, and completely unexpected, is the great community, all you folks out there…supportive, friendly….nice people to share the journey. The most productive $$$ I have invested since restarting the guitar…..well OK, the flame Les Paul is nice too!
So, cheers Brian and the community…to a new year of New Lesson Friday Expectations…Thank you from a very very happy student!
