Any tips to help memorize the pentatonic scales?
This is a complicated question. You can play lets say the minor pentatonic over a single scale, then it’s relative major, or extended from one octave to the next.
I guess the easy answer is to watch Brian’s video and memorize the shape. However…
I would suggest learning some theory, chords, & scales. That way if you were to write the down the minor pentatonic consist of the R, b3, 4, 5, b7, you could pick out those notes of a scale or moving from one octave to another. This will pay off later as it will let you to play those notes “outside the box” of the shape. Once you’re comfortable with hitting those notes on the fret board then it’s just learning licks and developing your sound.
I hope this helps.
