Hello everyone,
I wanted to run by my personal thoughts on how i have been approaching these lessons in order to advance and then I was hoping for some feedback from some of the other members. If they think this is a good idea or if they would go about it a different way.
I have been, and am planning to continue, to go over each lesson that comes out each week. I will make sure i understand the theory involved in how the lesson was approached, practice until i have it down pretty close and then move on. If in the lesson there is theory presented that i don’t know or haven’t been over, or even if i just need a refresher, i will then jump to that lesson. I will practice that lesson until i understand how it is being used in the current lesson. Once i understand it I will move back into the original lesson, practice it until i have it pretty close, then move on again.
Each time i go over a lesson i will not rack my brain if i can’t apply what i have learned yet or without deep thought. I will just move on to the next lesson and continue as before. Hoping eventually these things will kick in on their own with enough repetition.
Also, when i need time to just noodle around i will go back over the lessons from memory. Even if i don’t remember all the theory at that point i just keep practicing the lessons from memory. Thus reinforcing the shapes and fingerings regardless if i have temporarily forgotten what a certain parts theory is derived from.
Any thoughts on this approach from anyone would be welcome.
Thanks
PB
