Hi Everyone,
I could not get a good grip on the EP177 last weekend, which was rather frustrating because I really wanted to honour Bri-UKlefty with a decent April Challenge.
So to change my mindset I started digging into one of my favorite Robert Cray tracks, ‘The Dream’. Albert Collins does play a superb solo, but I always felt a bit sorry that Young Bob did not play more lead on the original recording.
In my version I tried to give the lead parts a kind of Robert Cray flavour, by playing some of Brian’s LEG028 licks, plugging the guitar straight into the amp and playing the neck pick up.
But then I got really overconfident (or should I say reckless)? I decided to sing along with my backing track…
Besides the fact that I am definitly not a gifted singer at all, it took me more time to record the vocals than the drums, bass, organ and guitars all together. So I guess this will be the first and last attempt to cover a song which contains a human voice.Anyway, I hope you will enjoy it.
Regards,
Patrick
