Hey Roger, thanks much for the appreciation, you and everyone are way more than welcome. What I like about the AM Forum is that everyone puts something in. This really isn’t a big deal; it’s my way of expressing my gratitude and my connection to the AM community.
Here are a few interesting playlists I’ve come across lately. To access the playlists, click through to YouTube by clicking on the little “sandwich” at upper left. When you get to YouTube, click on the playlist title at upper right. This should enable you to see the playlist descriptions.
This is an album compiled in 1977 by George Paulus, After Midnight, Chicago Blues 1952-1957.
Yesterday was the anniversary of Joe Willie Wilkins birthday.
This is a great, great compilation album assembled by Sebastian Danchin, author of Earl Hooker: Guitar Master.
By the way, Tampa Red was born 115 years ago today. He was known as the Guitar Wizard, he’s the composer of many songs we play, including “It Hurts Me Too,” and he was an influence on dozens of players who were themselves influential, including Robert Nighthawk, Earl Hooker, Muddy Waters, Elmore James. It’s too, too bad there isn’t film of Tampa Red playing (or Elmore James).
Check out the links to albums/playlists in the description of the playlist. Lately, I’ve started adding links to whole albums (in addition to the other useful info and links). The first dozen or so songs on here are my favorites. “Big Stars Falling” might be one of the most beautiful songs I know. Aside from “Rambler,” they all kind of drag, they’re kind of slow, which doesn’t represent him accurately.

Of course, Alessandro, while it’s nice to be acknowledged, a formal thank-you really isn’t necessary. It’s an easy thing for me, and something I enjoy doing. I sample everyone’s songs and listen at length to many of them. It’s fun.

52 respondents! Yeh, I was pretty sure there were more than average this time. I guess that’s because you could just play whatever you wanted to. It’s nice to do that once in a while.

I’d just like to echo a big thank you to you Don for your research and postings here. I’ve certainly benefitted and learnt a few of the blues numbers you’ve published on this forum.

Thanks for letting me know, Richard, that makes me happy. It’s really my pleasure to share the things I love—it’s not work, I appreciate what everyone shares here, that’s one of the things that makes the Forum what it is.
