Happy Father’s day to all the dads.
I was watching Crossroads Festival 2010, just a great playlist, here’s a little taste. Enjoy.

I’m having a relaxing Fathers Day, made better by watching Susan and Derek on a cool Sunday afternoon in the UK. Thanks John …..

Very good playing and she has a great voice I had a listen to this version a well and thought it was a better recording same band same song. Thanks for posting I don’t usually listen to Derek but that was nice ☺

That’s a better recording, Odin, but there’s something about the vibe of the outdoor stadium and something in the groove of the first version that just flows better for me.

The first time they played together on a Crossroads festival, I am pretty sure it was the second one, it was before they had done any albums together. One of them was substituting for someone missing in the other one’s band. They were introduced as the Trucks Tedeschi band. Immediately after that they started touring as the Tedeschi Trucks band. I thought that was funny. Typical husband wife situation 🙂

That’s the way it works: If she’s happy, I’m happy.

Great couple there. I wonder who signed Derick’s guitar? Maybe some of his Pop’s buddies.

Billy,
Derek is the nephew of Butch Trucks, drummer for the Allman Brothers Band. He was a child prodigy guitar player. He was a guest musician in the band for several years and became an official member, at age 20, in 1999 joining Warren Haynes. He’s toured with Clapton, Stephen Stills and many others. He’s probably considered one of the greatest slide guitar players in the world.

Thanks John, proves what I’ve been thinking for a long time and that is there are way too many guitarists out there to keep track of, I like her voice too. It’s got a raunchy dirty feel..

Thanks for sharing this, John. I don’t think anyone compares with Derek Trucks on slide guitar.

Since you like that raunchy dirty feel to vocals, check this out. Singer is Dale Krantz, married to Gary Rossington guitarist for Lynyrd Skynrd

I prefer Tedeshi to Dale who reminds me of Maggie Bell Stone the Crows from same area as Billy in the 70s she was reall raunchy.

Her lyrics are hot. 🙂
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Having listened to Dale Krattz who obviously has talent (see above ) and then listening to Maggie bell and McCulloch on guitar I think krantz has been edited that much it sounds bland compared to Stone the Crows or maybe Kratz has been over edited with digital sound but Stone the crows sound so much alive compared.
Pity McCulloch who then joined Wings died at 26 from drugs
