I need to buy an amp that I can use with the battery any suggestions on one.
I’ve looked into the pig nose app and they want WOW, it went up sky high 130 bucks now.
They’re nice amps but when they first came out they’re only like 70 bucks.
Anyway any suggestions price range realistically is 70 bucks tops.
Thanks everyone. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

I bought a pre-owned Boss Katana Mini amp for $60. It takes 6 AA batteries or can be plugged in. I think it’s great! I also use it as my computer speaker. A new one costs $99 though.

If I have to spend a hundred bucks I will.
I’ll have to check into that Boss Katana amplifier you mentioned.
Would it happen to be at least 3 to 5 Watts loud. Thanks for the suggestion

it’s really a bit hard for me to try to pick up something used by a private party in this country.
And to buy things used online through an auction I don’t have any experience on that so but thanks for the advice it looks like I’m going to probably stay with the that boss amplifier seems to have really good reviews.
It’s on Amazon Japan for that 90 bucks 8,500 yen.seems like everybody likes it and can’t really find any other battery operated amplifiers yet.
Thanks Billy. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

I can also recommend a Boss Katana Mini – it sounds great for its size, you can plug the guitar and choose between clean / crunch / brown channels, it has EQ and delay.
Also, it has an AUX input, I’m using it to amplify my mixing board where I plug the pedals and the backing tracks. The speaker gives a nice sound with a lot of volume if you need it.
Another nice option is a Roland Micro Cube.

There are many different kinds, and they all sound pretty good. So I would just pick any one that’s in your price range and buy it. BTW, I have a 3 watt battery amp called a Roland Micro Cube that will blow your ears off. I’ve even plugged my bass into it, and it works fine. Many guitarists I know have one to use as a portable amp (also plugs into the wall). It has many effects, you can plug your iPhone into it to play jam tracks. The batteries seem to last forever. And it’s so light you can pick it up with one finger.

I have a Blackstar Fly 3, that sounds great. They go for $70 new. 3 watts, six AA batteries. You can get a power adapter for it, if you want. It does cleans well and has a nice crunch, too. I’ve never tried pedals into it. Also has an aux in for backing tracks and a headphone out.

Steve, it looks like it’s going to be the boss mini amp for me.

Hi Dave
I’m really surprised to hear that many members here actually have a battery operated amp.
For me it’s the only thing I really need at the present time.
with all the suggestions here I ended up going to Amazon Japan and looking at the reviews for the boss mini amp.
I made the decision to buy it.
Cost was around $90 US dollars.
I thought it was a okay price.
Waiting for delivery either today or tomorrow or whenever it gets here.
And yes I’m excited kind of like a Christmas morning opening up a present.
Again thanks for your comment on battery operated amps. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

I’m really surprised to hear that many members here actually have a battery operated amp.
My main amp is a Fender Super Champ X2. I use the battery powered amp for going on extended vacations, sitting out on the deck, etc. I wanted something small, portable, battery powered and good sound. My final two choices were the Katana Mini and the Blackstar Fly. Don’t really remember why I chose the Fly, maybe price. Both have very similar features.

I didn’t know about the Black Star but it does look like a very nice amp.
I actually went by the price to buy the battery operated amp.
Although I was hoping to get one a bit cheaper but for 90 US dollars hopefully I’ll be happy with it.
The Boss amp does seem to have a bit more power to it than the Black Star.
Amazon just notified me that I should get the amp today so I’m looking forward to it.The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

Hi. I have a pig nose (well, not on my face I hasten to add!) which i got for use with the harmonica. It’s a lovely little thing & quite useful. I’ve mic’d it up & recorded guitar with it too.

GaryPignose amps were so great at the time they came out, but after checking out the new prices of them at about $129 bucks, well, there are a lot more amps now that provide more features. I did make up my mind and post an update on what I bought.
