Isn’t it obvious that the forum Admin/mods deleted it?.

It was, but I was giving the benifit of the doubt.
Also I was hoping this forum wasn’t so petty that we all must act like no other instructional material existed. Especially free material that isn’t In competition.
Isn’t the point of all this to help eachother get better at guitar?
It’s no wonder the traffic here is so light. Lol.
Well ….. Let’s try this again.

You are advertising direct competition, So I can see Brian/Admin/Mods point of view on this, as for the forum being petty, you’ve got to be pretty nieve to think that we don’t know of or use many other guitar tuition websites.
I’m not sure why you reposted this subject after the 1st posting being deleted.

Actually I’m not. Stich material is almost entirely his FREE YouTube page. Unless you choose to go to his patron, I suppose?
Which I may do at this point out of spite. Lol. He has Multiple Hour Long Masterclass videos he puts out for FREE.Stitch also doesn’t post Half a Lesson and ask you to pay to get the other half. That should have been a red flag from the jump.
Maybe this should be a clue as to why you have 12 60 year olds as posters and no one else. ???
But don’t let me break up the Cult. Carry on.
Well ….. Let’s try this again.

Mr Down
I’m not able to send you a PM ( at least I don’t think so ).
As mentioned by other members here, his site sells his material. Yes, we all like to get along here on the forum in which I’ve been Brian’s moderator for many years and we DON’T really have any problems with people posting videos of guitar players showing their techniques, but when they are in the business of selling their material, so far that has been a no no on this forum.
Please understand that with no bad feeling toward any of the members on this friendly forum. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

I’ve been a member of forums just like this for a few other instruments. They sell material too. Yet in the interest of everyone learning, growing as players, and building a large diverse community, there’s never an issue with posting material that may help others do so.
I find this to be very petty and almost Cult like. Y’all can have your tiny little corner of the internet. There’s plenty of other forums.
Well ….. Let’s try this again.

Mr. 6 stringer, now that I’ve had a good night’s sleep without interruption by my 2 month old. And regardless of Little Billy here’s input…..
Perhaps you and I can have a bit of a conversation on this topic. Because surely you see my point of view here, No? I’ve paid my $90 for premium membership and I should be able to discuss anything I please. ESPECIALLY if that topic correlates to furthering My and/or other members musical education and proficiency on this instrument. Now I understand this is very much on a line between how I have just described it and Advertisement Spam.
However, as I have mentioned above to Billy, Stich is not in direct competition and 99.99% of his material is Free material. So I honestly don’t see the issue as it applies to Sales Spam.
So I can only conclude that Brian must be the only subject of discussion around here as it lends to stroking his ego. Am I correct in this assumption, or are you just not familiar with stitch and are making assumptions of your own?
This sends up huge red flags for me in that regard, I have to tell you.
Well ….. Let’s try this again.

Chris,
Most of your remarks here are bordering on offensive and you might consider taking it down a notch. This is a very tight, supportive community. If it’s a small little corner of the internet, all the better. Every once in a while someone posts a link to some video that they thought was really of interest and not much is made of it. I think the general feeling on the forum is that Brian offers really great value and most everybody here feels a degree of loyalty and thanks for what Brian does. Many of us have been members for a number of years. As such, the general etiquette is to not post videos that would give advertisement to other online teachers that might be considered Brian’s competition. Having said that, I am pretty sure that Brian is confident enough in what he offers that he may not care what we post with respect to guitar education. You could pose the question directly to Brian. On the other hand, we are all completely capable of seeking out the information we feel we need. If there’s a concept you really feel is important, Brian has been very open to members teaching members, so why not create your own video, I’ll bet that would be really appreciated.

I disagree that everyone is capable of seeking out all the info they need.
Infact I’ve seen multiple questions posed in this begginer forum that should be a part of anyone’s basic curriculum. However they are lacking in Brian’s. Which is fine, but if I can easily answer a question and further a player’s knowledge by giving them another resource with which to supplement their studies… than I will do so.
Well ….. Let’s try this again.

Wait a minute, are you Donnie Walsh, a.k.a. Mr.DownChild of the DownChild Blues Band? OR, are you this guy who has been playing gigs in Florida?
https://www.facebook.com/steevinglishblues/
If so, you are way out of our league. We’re just a bunch of amateurs playing for the fun of it.
Will the real Mr.DownChild please stand up!

Is Donnie Walsh really the extent of your blues knowledge?
Mr. Downchild was a song by Robert Johnson and redone by Many artist (My favorite version being by Rice Miller aka Sonny Boy Williamson II) There actually was blues recorded before the 70s by white guys.
So before getting snarky, Maybe bone up on your blues history.
Well ….. Let’s try this again.

JohnAll great points John. I can only speak for the early days of Active Melody here so……..
About 8-9 years ago, I decided to ask Brian for his thoughts about posting videos by a leading instructor that is very popular. At that time, Brian asked me to not post it because of the conflict of interest that could draw people away from AM….
Brian is now much more successful than he was at that time so I don’t know what his thoughts are now be on the subject. Personally, out of respect for Brian, I won’t post other instructional videos unless it is a subject that Brian doesn’t specifically teach – in-depth Travis style playing, Andy Aledort’s breakdown of Hendrix style, etc.Brian has been very generous over the years to the members of this site and for me, I like to respect him for that.

Yes, I edited your post. Left it up since I did feel you might be a paid subscription member. I don’t jump to conclusions so quickly since we all are here to enjoy the paid and free lessons offer. I’m glad to hear you are a paid member.
Yes, I’m very familiar with Stiches YouTube lessons. He happens to be tops in his field. Sadly as you found out by the members post here, he does sell stuff on his site . We like to stay away from postings like that on the forum. Please don’t hesitate to post players that are showing techniques and don’t have ads to buy their sales pitch. Good luck in future posting and if you have any further questions , please take them up with owner of this site. The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete

I didn’t “find that out by other members”. I knew that before posting. The amount of material he sells is very limited. Again most of his material is free. I thought I made my intent pretty clear In my initial post. It was to help alot of the players here that I saw looking very confused at very basic subjects to supplement their learning here. I still feel that without supplementing the lessons on this site one couldn’t possibly figure out the big picture.
With all due Respect to you, sir, I think I’ll just use the lessons for what they’re worth and use another more populated, musically informed, and more diverse forum to bounce ideas off of. I can just as easily post my renditions of these lessons there for critique.
This one has already left a very bad taste in my mouth.
As I said before, I’ve been a member of other forums just like this one for other instruments and there has never been an issue posting others material. Competitors are even members on some of these forums. Again, Maybe this would be a more flourishing community if it were a more helpful and not so limited one.
Guitar is a BOOMING industry right now, this forum should have much higher traffic. I’m starting to see now why it doesn’t.
Well ….. Let’s try this again.

This site / forum has been up and running for nearly a decade now, with hardly an issue. There are the occasional spammers or troublesome posters, but it’s extremely rare. I’m only sharing that with you to let you know that you are an anomaly, with 10 years of data to back that up. I have no problems with you posting anything regarding Stitch Method, I think Ian is a great player and teacher and seems like a great guy (he and I haven’t connected). That said, be respectful of the culture of a forum. They don’t run the way YOU want them to. Learn to read the room.

Brian, just like your lessons, you seem to encapsulate concepts so perfectly and present them so clearly :
“Learn to read the room”.
Another great lesson.
Stay Well Brian,
