A lot of great posts in every kind of style today. I thought I’d throw in one more. A raw recording but a cool song with some great lyrics.

Speechless…James. I am in awe. Excellent, very fine music and singing! Is this in line of Doc Watson, also? I have his vinyl.

I love the Allman brothers version but have to confess, this is also excellent.
I hadn’t heard this before. Thanks for posting. -

That was first class, James, both vocals and guitar. Sounded professional to my ear. Great stuff.

James, that was outstanding, a great take on a traditional piece and where have you been keeping that voice all this time? With a voice as good as yours, I’d be out on the circuit.

Superb, James! You’re a multitalented musician! And I agree with Hide, your warmful voice reminds me of Doc Watson! Phil.

Nice , very nice!
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Thanks to everyone for listening and your flattering comments.
Billy – It would be an honor to be saved to your mp3. I need some salvation! 😉
Hide – I love Doc Watson too! I’m working on an arrangement of ‘Deep River Blues’

I would seriously pay a cover to go watch and listen to you play James.
My first introduction to guitar was in this style, sadly I’ve gotten away from it and my hands just can’t seem to play this way any longer. I’ve got several of Stephan Grossman’s lessons on cassette. Maybe it’s time to give them another go.
Can’t wait to hear your Deep River Blues!

Hi Rob, Yes I would definitely recommend you get those tapes out again and learn a few traditional blues numbers. James is already showing us the way.
I learned a great deal from Stefan Grossman’s Kicking Mule Studio over the years and I’m surprised he hasn’t been recognised in some way for his years of dedication to teaching guitar.Richard

Nicely done. Voice is very pleasant, I would have said more like Arlo Guthrie than Doc Watson, but high praise either way. You could spice it up by adding a guitar break. Clearly you have the chops for it.

Wonderful James, your guitar has something to do with FLEETWOOD MAC / NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN recalls. Well played! Admirable for me is also your very great voice. It was really cool overall; maybe you can upgrade everything a bit more if you go down a bit bpm. I would imagine that you bring your voice a little more into the foreground. If you know what I mean; not a question of tuning the volume between voice and guitar, but tempo and pauses. Big thumbs up!
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.
