I have committed to posting a song a week until Christmas in an attempt to get better at the recording process.
This is the second video in that process.
I decided to record audio a bit differently this time around by giving each of us a mic and recording into my DAW rather than using a room mic to capture us both.
I used Blue Encore 100’s for both the vocal and guitar. Those ran into a Behringer 404 then into Pro Tools First. For vocals I ran my inserts in this order: EQ (subtractive), compression, reverb. Guitar was: EQ, compression, light reverb. After this I ran thru another compresser to up the volume (more of a limiter I guess?). It could probably use a bit more volume given how loud everything is on Youtube but I thought it sounds good where it is so I left it.
Video I used my phone this time around. I tried to implement as many of the suggestions I got as possible. I think it’s better this time around but I’m still not really pleased with the video.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I really do want to get better at this process and everyone’s comments and suggestions on the last video were really helpful.
