This is what I posted. It was not political. It was the Commander in Chief for the Armed Services.
Who ever deleted it, shame on you, and I speak for all of us Veterans on this forum.
As I said. THIS WAS FOR US UNITED STATES VETERANS ON THIS FORUM ON VETERANS DAY.AGAIN, SHAME ON THE PERSON WHO EITHER REQUESTED OR HAD THIS THREAD DELETED .
And that USAF Vietnam Veteran is me.

It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

As one person said who responded to the original post, may we never forget our Veterans

Pete,
Thanks for your service! We should be thankful each and every day for our Veterans and not just Veterans Day.
From a U.S.Coast Guard Vet. ( ok, shallow water sailors as some would call us…haha…)

I am thankful for all of our vets, active duty service personnel, first responders – police, fire, EMT – and since this is an international forum,
I’ll go a step further and thank the veterans of our allies that have stood with the USA to make this world a safer place. The UK, Poland, France, Germany, Australia and Canada plus many others have been at our side in times of conflict and war.

I have no idea what veterans day is or what it entails, Here in the U.k. we honour the fallen from all the wars on the 11th of the 11th at 11.a.m., those who have served in armed conflict the world over through no choice or choice of their own deserve to be remembered, we can’t afford to make mistakes of the past to build a future.

I’m a veteran. Served at the tail end of the Vietnam “conflict”. My brother was in Vietnam, my father in Korea. Frankly, I don’t understand nor do I want any “thank you for service our country” stuff. I’m not a hero, or some kind of warrior. I never asked for any thanks. I signed up at a time when others were avoiding the draft because I believe we should all give a couple years to serving our country if we truly believe in the freedoms we have. Military and war are unfortunate necessary evils. It’s too bad we need a military. I wish we had no weapons or wars. I wish others would stop saying thank you and go serve themselves as well if they are able. And frankly, any post on veterans day referencing any sitting president is definitely political. It just does not belong here.

Pete,
Thanks for your service. Not a veteran myself, but come from a family of vets. I find nothing political in thanking vets for their service. I guess a Happy Thanksgiving or Merry Christmas would also be considered political statements.

BobBob I agree with you 100%. It was not a political statement at all. It was the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces giving a welcome and thank you speech for those that served and serving in uniform at the Veteran’s parade .

My father in law was honored for his service, along with several other veterans, at a local high school veterans day celebration. I attended for that reason.
Upon arrival they asked if all veterans would sign in. So I did.
During the ceremony, a student read a message from the president, thanking veterans and active military members. It wasn’t political. I doubt he even wrote the speech.
During the ceremony they called my name and asked me to stand. It was only the second time in almost 50 years I was publicly recognized for risking my life in Vietnam.
Politics aside, it was special to me. Thank you to everybody here who thanked veterans for their service.-

Hey Richard, that’s a cool story. I think we have a lot of Vietnam Vets on board. And other Veterans of War also.

Its people like you that this post was so important. To voice support for what has been done by people for our nation. Viet Nam vets came home to terrible actions by some so I will continue to do & say what I can – without being monotonous – to honor those who’ve served
Regardless of who the President is and whether I agree with him or not – I need to look past the politics – we have to realize that our current Commander In Chief did a great thing for our military, vets and he continues to be supportive of our first responders
Had the same speech been given by a President that I didn’t agree with, I would have been supportive of it for good of our service personnelI hope to see a day that we can stop allowing ourselves to be so divided by our difference and come together as a nation. To look past the head line in the news and find our common ground.
I want to keep this forum away from political wranglings and agendas but when it comes to anyone, regardless of their political stance, if they are doing good for our military, vets and first responders, I don’t have an issue with it being posted.

Wanting recognition is all fine. I think knowing that I served is good enough for me. Don’t really care who knows it because I know it. But the political discourse comes in when you decide to use veterans day to talk about how this person in the white house somehow is doing great things for us veterans. Immediately that brings on great political discourse and forum problems. That is why it does not belong here. You can find a lot of ways to recognize veterans without touting a political figure. Immediately I want to argue with you about why the current administration is anything but patriotic. Certainly you can see why it becomes political. Don’t use veterans day to sneak in applause for this white house. I have to speak up. Why don’t we just leave it off the forum so we don’t fight about it. I was not the person who reported that your post should be deleted, but I should have been.
