Just a quick last minute entry. Sorry for no video, I’ve been busy with my new grandson and seem to have become a CNN junkie of late. I wanted to try something different for the rhythm, it’s called the “Empty Arms” slide made famous by SRV.
Have a nice evening and stay safe.
October 4, 2020 at 6:35 pm #194383Richard SParticipant
Pretty good for a last minute entry. But you do have your priorities right re grandson, not CNN.
Keep well John.

I don’t know Richard. There’s some pretty interesting history in the making just now that will affect all of us, grandson included.

Great job, Charjo!
I think I’ll have to give myself the challenge of learning some of your very tasty licks!

BB licks compliment the sliding ninth chords. Great tone. A worthy listen as usual John. Thanks for your continued inspiration. Be well.

Great playing man. Great sound! 👍
October 4, 2020 at 8:37 pm #194451Jonathan AmosParticipant
Gosh, that SRV slide is a lesson in itself, a trick I’d never thought of. Hey Brian, how about it?
October 4, 2020 at 10:35 pm #194482JoLaParticipant
Thank you for that Sunday night delight, John! Your quick last minute entry is definitely the most original take on the challenge and has Charjo style written all over it. Love the SRV slides although they always make me think of “Stormy Monday”.
Enjoy your little Olie times, Grandpa!
October 4, 2020 at 10:40 pm #194483
Yup, same notes, different timing.
October 4, 2020 at 10:52 pm #194485AndréMParticipant
Charjo, man this is the best i heard on this challenge.
Excellent as usual.

Creative and original Charjo. You will have started a trend after this challenge. Absolutely fantastic, the single lines, the slides, etc very tasteful as always. Looking forward already to your next month submission. All the best!
October 5, 2020 at 1:15 am #194528Phil BParticipant
As usual you’ve brought your own creative style to the feast. I’m writing this on a miserable Monday morning here in the U.K. It’s raining and quite overcast but your submission has added army of brightness. Great job, really enjoyed listening.
October 5, 2020 at 1:17 am #194529Phil BParticipant
A ray not army. Bloody predictive text!
October 5, 2020 at 3:11 am #194558Andy NParticipant
Sneaking in at the end there with a treat for the ears Charjo. Had to sneak off and google that ‘Empty Arms’ 9th slide it sounded to so good. One for the todo list. And as is the norm, lots of tasty and appropriate licks. Good stuff!
October 5, 2020 at 4:14 am #194562snakechislerParticipant
Great complement to the original track liked the tone really rich and the different rhythm approach will look it up.
Even in the UK cought some CNN given all that’s going on switched over to SNL seemed more believable 😉
October 5, 2020 at 6:34 am #194643Bob UtbergParticipant
Hey John! Congrats on your grandbaby for sure! Great playing as always. The “stormy” slides are awesome. SRV would have been 66 this past weekend, so nice nod to him. The smooth licks are pro level and sound incredible! Well done. Bob

Great timing and rhythm sense, frequently I did not realize who´s playing, you or HIM. I think I recognize some familiar licks from older lessons?
October 5, 2020 at 8:18 am #194657Dave KParticipant
Flawless playing as always, John. When are you going to start giving lessons? The tone of your strat is always so meaty yet straty… I love it! Also, congrats on your new grandson!
October 5, 2020 at 11:47 am #194700SalParticipant

Very sophisticated submission John. Your lead runs are Clapton-like. The sound quality is off the charts.
October 5, 2020 at 12:56 pm #194732James BParticipant
Great approach John. Love the slides and tasty fills along with your trademark tone. Remember what John Prine said. “Blow up the TV, throw away the papers, move to the country…” We’ll all pray for peace, health and love.
October 5, 2020 at 1:28 pm #194745Martin WParticipant
Ah the stormy slide , such a good rhythm choice , I used it for one of my licks so it’s quite versatile. I like your approach with this, some interesting licks that don’t clog things up , you got a bit of a signature tone with your strat. Nice work well played .
October 5, 2020 at 2:04 pm #194749Phil67Participant
Very personal touch and great result
