Just a quick last minute entry. Sorry for no video, I’ve been busy with my new grandson and seem to have become a CNN junkie of late. I wanted to try something different for the rhythm, it’s called the “Empty Arms” slide made famous by SRV.
Have a nice evening and stay safe.

Pretty good for a last minute entry. But you do have your priorities right re grandson, not CNN.
Keep well John.-

I don’t know Richard. There’s some pretty interesting history in the making just now that will affect all of us, grandson included.

Gosh, that SRV slide is a lesson in itself, a trick I’d never thought of. Hey Brian, how about it?

Thank you for that Sunday night delight, John! Your quick last minute entry is definitely the most original take on the challenge and has Charjo style written all over it. Love the SRV slides although they always make me think of “Stormy Monday”.
Enjoy your little Olie times, Grandpa!

As usual you’ve brought your own creative style to the feast. I’m writing this on a miserable Monday morning here in the U.K. It’s raining and quite overcast but your submission has added army of brightness. Great job, really enjoyed listening.

Sneaking in at the end there with a treat for the ears Charjo. Had to sneak off and google that ‘Empty Arms’ 9th slide it sounded to so good. One for the todo list. And as is the norm, lots of tasty and appropriate licks. Good stuff!

Great complement to the original track liked the tone really rich and the different rhythm approach will look it up.
Even in the UK cought some CNN given all that’s going on switched over to SNL seemed more believable 😉

Hey John! Congrats on your grandbaby for sure! Great playing as always. The “stormy” slides are awesome. SRV would have been 66 this past weekend, so nice nod to him. The smooth licks are pro level and sound incredible! Well done. Bob

Great timing and rhythm sense, frequently I did not realize who´s playing, you or HIM. I think I recognize some familiar licks from older lessons?

Flawless playing as always, John. When are you going to start giving lessons? The tone of your strat is always so meaty yet straty… I love it! Also, congrats on your new grandson!

Great approach John. Love the slides and tasty fills along with your trademark tone. Remember what John Prine said. “Blow up the TV, throw away the papers, move to the country…” We’ll all pray for peace, health and love.

Ah the stormy slide , such a good rhythm choice , I used it for one of my licks so it’s quite versatile. I like your approach with this, some interesting licks that don’t clog things up , you got a bit of a signature tone with your strat. Nice work well played .

Nicely creative, Charjo. It’s amazing how many licks people have come up with for this relatively simple tune.
