I am very sad to pass along the news that Brian Dobson, our @bri-uklefty, passed away from cancer.
Bri was one of us. He loved guitars and Active Melody. His fighting spirit and infectious enthusiasm will be greatly missed.
I will personally miss Bri. We corresponded back and forth quite a bit over the last year. I was always in awe of his fighting spirit and positive attitude. He was making progress in learning to play despite battling cancer. He was even participating regularly in the monthly challenges. Bri, you are missed!!!

That’s very sad news. He was quite ill yet never gave up living as normal a life as possible. He always looked forward to playing his guitar and interacting with his friends on Active Melody when he was going through treatments. He will truly be missed. Prayers to his family. He was a great guy.

DearAll,
This is as you have said very sad news. Brian was indominitable in his spirit. He was kind and dilligent on the Forum and his own playing was improving rapidly in spite of all the great problems he faced. We will all miss his input and freindly way. My condolences to his family.

I am really saddened to hear this. What a wonderful guy with such a positive attitude. I will truly miss Brian and the life’s lessons he shared with us. I learned about Brian’s love for “caravaning” which apparently means spending some down time in the trailer. I laughed because his wife worried I would get the wrong impression of them. Please share with his family how much we enjoyed Brian’s presence on the forum. Rest in peace, Brian.

I also am very sorry to hear about Bri. I had some personal communication with him not so long ago, and from that, I had no inkling that the end was so near. He kept up his positive attitude and desire to learn guitar as if he planned to be around years from now. In my mind, he was a true Guitar Hero.

I’m shocked and so sorry to hear this terrible news. Bri was always so optimistic and full of life and had so much courage fighting cancer. I loved his spirit and kind comments to everyone on the forum about their guitar playing. I’ll really miss not seeing his postings.
My sincere condolences to his family and maybe his family will get to see some of these postings and know how much he’ll be missed by all of us.

It’s very sad to hear about “Bri.” He was one of my favorites on Active Melody. Always so upbeat and positive. And the progress in guitar playing he was making recently was so impressive, especially considering how sick he must have been. He is an inspiration to me to keep at it on the guitar. Condolences and R.I.P., Brian.

Brian has very kindly named EP177 ‘Bri Lefty Blues’ in tribute to him. You will see it now altered in the title on the lesson page. This was I think his last Challenge and I know all of us were surprised at just how far he had progressed. He loved this song and it will make a wonderful piece for his family to remember his love of the guitar in due time..
Brian a great tribute thank you for remembering our friend this way..
