I found a couple websites that might be what you are looking for. The first one is http://www.youtube.com/user/djmoore20041 . I feel that he breaks things down and repeats them enough to make it easy to follow, all in all I think he’s a good teacher . He’s no Brian , but he’s good. I’ve got the first part (of five, i believe) of Hesitation Blues down using his videos. Will Fly,http://www.mjra.net/WillFly/tabs.shtml , who is in England has some things worth checking out. He posts videos and tabs, not actually lessons , but sometimes it’s cool to try and play from the tab after listening to how it goes. Another website I found helpful is http://www.youtube.com/user/deltabluestips ..Although lately he just puts up samplers, if you go back you can find some complete lessons. He’s very down to earth, and very easy to follow, even with the Liverpool accent
Peace , Josh. -

Thank you Josh!!!!! I will check them out. I am still messing with Hesitation Blues, some Hot Tuna, “Water Song”, some John Hurt stuff. Oh yeah Elizabeth Cotton too. This kind of playing takes time. But when you get it, it is so nice.
Thanks again, fresnojohns -

Hi John
I have this by Steve Kaufman: Power Flatpicking Guitar Book w/cd If you want a copy let me know. It is really great stuff. I can record the stuff for you and send a file to you, that might be possible. His stuff takes time to nail, but beautiful music.
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

I’ll keep my eyes open too as I’m sure there must be something in my guitar mag collection. Many years ago, I went to a concert by Ralf McTell who had the hit “Streets of London”. He is an awesome ragtime player & his heroes are the likes of Blind Blake. He said at the concert that although “Streets of London” was a great hit for him, he hated it the way it was released. The record company had put strings & stuff 0n it which was not how he felt it should be. I think he must have had a mistrust of record companies after that as I never saw another recording by him. He may be distributing his own material now, so check him out if you are curious.

Would you believe I have the cd called Power Flat Picking Guitar. I used to go to this bluegrass jam on Monday nights. This guy gave me a cd. He claimed it wouldn’t work on his player. There are I think 84 different tracks on this. They all seem fine. After going through it tonight, I almost should order the book with an extra cd. Did you try any of the material yet. It is hot playing.
Hey I love your material. Sounds sweet………………………..fresnojohns

I found Southern Rag by Blind Blake transcribed in an old edition of Total Guitar. It sounds like a tough one played at the correct speed, but I guess you could just slow it down till you built up speed or just put it away till your pickin’ skills have improved.
You’ll find the links below to the tab & also a mp3 of Blind Blake performing the tune.
