    other than the a minor pentatonic scale , what other scales would be considered important to know for soloing

      Keeping it simple…

      – Add the flat five and you have the blues scale
      – Then there’s the relative major to your minor, brian covers this on the site I believe
      – Then Combine the major & minor pentatonic scales into your licks
      – There’s the extended pentatonic scale
      – And there’s jazz….which takes it to a whole another level!

      Play the Dorian Mode over the Blues scale and you recognize a sound played by many guitarists.
