awwh, they’ll toughen up in no time. Mine are so callused over I was catching the calluses on the strings, so I began doing google searches to see if I should do something to soften them up. I couldn’t find any info on it though.
I haven’t spent much time on that wikiloops.com yet. I just kind of browsed around and listened to some of the tracks people have posted up. Seems like a cool site though, glad you like it. -

Hey DL
Can you do 2 finger pushups? I’ve got a picture of me in the dojo,(years ago in Okinawa) but I don’t know how to scan it and put it on the computer. Like to post it if I could. Do you know how to do it /scan and put it on the computer?
The melody of the notes is what expresses the art of music . 🙂 6stringerPete
It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

My fingers used to do the same thing when I was younger and played a lot more but aome one turned me on to Tone Finger Ease string lubricant and its a thing of the past my fingers don’t get as sore if I don’t play for a while and caluses are a thing of the past. The tips still toughen up but they don’t groove up like before.

I have the same issue at times. I found that a cuticle (fingernail) file works for me, then I use the wife’s hand cream before I play.
I also soak my hands in hot water – HOT as I can stand it – to loosen up the ‘old’ joints and ligaments.
_
I also use Fast Fret on all my guitars though I don’t think that helps with the calluses, but it sure helps the strings.
They stay clean and last a long long time. And I can slide faster, as intended by ‘Fast’ Fret 😉 -

Bah! Fingers hurt?
I had an accident at work on Monday, snapped a 3.5mm drill bit in a cordless power drill and put the broken end right through my left thumb. Chipped the bone and left some steel splinters in there. That’s put a bit of a crimp in my practice routine as you can imagine.
I can’t really play bar chords at the moment so I was forced to buy Brian’s blues lead course cos’ I can start working on that without having to press with my thumb on the back of the neck…. 😉
