Enclosed is an Open D Tuning diagram. The top is for a major scale and the bottom is for a Minor scale. The string tuning is 6-D, 5-A, 4-D, 3-F#, 2-A, and 1-D. For acoustic guitar use this tuning and capo at the second fret, and this will give you an Open E Tuning. These tunings are for the standard Major and Minor scale. Not the Pentatonic.
For open E tuning tune this way. 6-E, 5-B, 4-E, 3-G#, 2-B, and 1-E. Remember, when tuning to an Open E Tuning, it is just like strumming an open E chord. Open E has 3 E strings and 2 open B strings. Open D has 3 open D strings, and 2 open A strings.
Only the 3rd string “G” is raised one half step for E and lowered one half step for D. The filled in dots are the root notes. I will try and find a diagram for Open G also.I hope any of you who want to try Open Tunings can use this.
