Hello AM peeps!
My first idea was to maybe improvise something. But since I don’t play enough (busy work schedule) I didn’t feel I could pull that off or come up with anything less boring than my usual go to phrases.
So I decided to learn something new, EP608 sounded cool to me and it was also all about playing in one position. I’m still amazed how Brian can make the whole lead played in pattern 1 sound so good. However, playing with a pick is not my forte so I spent good 3 days on the first 4 bars trying to figure out that alternate picking thing and almost regretted my challenge choice!
Anyways, a very short challenge accomplished, I don’t know how I managed to record anything as I still feel very much under the water with this lesson 😄

So much fun Jola! Love the underwater theme, but more importantly you really nailed the playing. Melodic, good feeling, good tone. Wonderful! If I were to make a video like this it would take me a lot longer than the guitar work and recording! Love your creativity.

Love it, JoLa! That’s quite a challenge you chose. 11 days for memorizing AND recording. I know I would not be able to do it. You did great!

I thought you sounded great using a pick. Entertaining video too!

Hilarious video Jola 🙂 🙂 but I think you’ve accomplished the challenge. Having the AM challenge pushed us like this is really the whole point anyway. In any case, this was nicely done and great rendition of the lesson.

I don’t know which is better: your sense of humor or your skills at making video.
I was greatly amused and gratified that even the best and most talented of us has an occasional struggle with a challenge. Only 92 takes and the musical result was extraordinarily average! The SpongeBob impersonation just extraordinary! -

I always love hearing you play guitar, Jola. And once again, it’s great fun listening to you. But this time, the fantastic video and your humor really stand out. It really cracked me up. I’m still laughing.
Take the chance to meet your AM friends on Zoom
The next Meetup will be at the beginning of next year 2026A detailed announcement will be posted here in the forum in good time.
I look forward to meet you.

A very humorous video jola , and so very true , I’m with you on the multiple takes !
You got there in the end though and delivered the lesson perfectly, especially those tricky double bends .Martin

I must admit I watched your video several times because of that funny video. I can recognize very well that pushy voice inside your head.
Great lesson choice to practice alternate pick picking and I think you did very well and persistent. That double bend on the lower notes is so hard but you played it very well.
I am always glad when I can play Brian’s lead at 70% to 80%.
Check! Check! Check!

Great and fun video, very entertaining JoLa, always a pleasure to watch your contents for the challenges 😃 (the voice-over reminds me a bit of the daleks in Doctor Who: “Exterminate!” 🤣).
And eventually, after the long journey, a spotless and lovely rendition!Guido

JoLa, what more could I say that hasn’t already been said – your video is very funny and entertaining and it´s a very well played piece of music.
So take #93 was successful, huh!?! Hard work always pays off.Thank you for the smile it put on my face and believe me, I have been watching it several times so there were a lot of smiles today.

Sounded AMAZING JoLa… I loved the out takes. I have to admit I was laughing my arse off ‘cuz I am right there with you. Perfect until the red light is on. Very soulful….. and nicely played. This is one of my favorite new lessons and was playing around with the backing track. It’s remarkable that you learned this in such a short time. It takes me a month basically to memorize something so I usually learn half then do my own thing. Thank you for bringing cheer to my heart. Love the overall video production as well.

Nola,
Good. Fall down, get up and play better. Fall down, get up and play better. You did, once you gave up, you got it.

Oh Jola! That was a load of fun. This could be the single from your “Drowned in the blues” album. Maybe you can get Squidward to chip in with a bit of backing clarinet too 🤣.
It doesn’t matter that it’s not up to warp factor Brian, his lessons sound good at any tempo, and I can fully empathise with the starting in daylight and ending way into the night on the umpteenth take. But it all came good, especially on nailing all those bends in that low register 💪.
In the meantime, I hope you found a good plumber and “sponged” up the flood! -

Hi JoLa! I understand you so well for the lack of time! I have to thank the challenges for keeping me consistent. You did great both in playing and video editing, so cool 😁
If I wasn't making mistakes I wouldn't be the kind of player I want to be. Perfection is dangerous.
