So here we are, end of November already!
First of all, thank you to those who figured out the chords and shared them with us! That sure made it easier for me to navigate through the minefield of this progression. It took some twists and turns but I think in the end, we are all playing the same song – just with different flavors 🙂
I gotta say I also like this short challenge format, I was done with it in a week and able to submerge myself in other musical endeavors this month 😁
Holiday season is here, so happy holidays – whatever they are for you in your part of the world!

Yeah JoLa! Nice & dreamy dancing through this minefield of a progression 😄 I also have to agree on the briefness. A challenge in itself, but like you said, it freed up time for other things, ideally also of a musical nature.

Everybody seems to have gotten their ‘Sunday Best’ guitars out for this challenge and yours is no exception. I don’t recognise the make though. As usual you have approached his challenge with your usual novel take and produced another belter. It’s amazing how quickly the submissions can be reviewed now most of them are down to just over a minute but it does give one more time be a bit more expansive with the review. Keep it up Jola, you’re an inspiration to all of us!

A nice melody you came up with JoLa. Standing up and playing with a pick. You’re expanding your skills. You must be preparing for your stage debut. 😀

Great tone out of this axe. And I liked your choice of bends.

Nice smooth phrasing and choice of notes over this backing track. I also enjoyed the short format. It didn’t take long to finish and is much easier to review the submissions.

Very smooth and mellow …then you turned into a ghost and faded away lol
Live on planet Earth ? You got the blues.

Great bluesy lead. You unraveled the twisty road to the chords magnificently! Enjoyed it.

Jola, you delivered a tasty selection of licks with a wonderful sense of feel and you’re really developing your vibrato. I’m in total agreement with the short track, most jams you will get two times through the progression for your lead, sometimes more depending on the number of other musicians or if you are a regular at the venue. Great stuff!!

Happy Holiday Season to you too. Thanks for the post. Enjoyable composition. Slides and bends worked well. Liked the biting ending.

Love those bends Jola! Right in pitch. Very sweet.

Nice and relaxed feel and sound you got going on this one Jola.
It’s all about the picking hand and you had it under control with hybrid and minimal movement.
That guitar looks cool don’t think I’ve seen that make before…
Best

Loved that Jola. Great tone and presentation. As you say all playing the same song with different flavors. Wonder what a mix of them all together would sound like.

November 28, 2020 at 5:08 am #221532
Bluesy and a tasty selection of licks for one great soulful rendition. That’s why you are an AM Jammer with results like this and standing up too which is not easy to do. You must tell us about the guitar you are using. Happy Holidays, Jola.

I don’t think I have seen this guitar on yours yet; congratulations for this achievement, great thing. Yes, you handled the track perfectly; Your lead creation was pleasant and your built-in double stops that you cleverly used and placed in the right place also fit. Well, and of course a wonderful video, JoLa. Good work; Tumbs up.
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Very poised JoLa! You had some really nice runs over the minor chords (or what I thought were minor chords…)

I loved the bend/slide @ :40!! The whole composition rocks for sure! Your bends and slides are spot on! Nicely played. And, of course, your vids are THE BEST for sure. Happy Holidays to Yinz as well! Bob

I really like this short slow back track.
And you illustrate it nicely:
You re part of the good players here, this is not flattery, and I found very interesting and instructive for beginners as myself to listen how you do managed silence, double stop, etc.
With post like this one, and I also include other great players posts, I can train my ears, rhythm, check options I do not imagine at first.
Thank you.Where does the white go when snow melts?

Jola, your composition was really nice and your playing was really great too. I think the shorter backing tracks allow us to do a better job on a little bit and keep learning. Some of the challenges in the past have been a lot of work for me… to the point of not having time to do new lessons. Cheers to you. Pap

Another impressive contribution JoLa… the lick at 0:18 or so was to die for. You have some tasty and carefully placed licks, riffs and sequences. I hear a hint of Jimi R&B/double stop chops in the beginning (what I tried to do). I always look forward to your performance(s). Standing up too. Not easy. Job well done!! Keep on rockin’ my friend.
Merry Christmas and Peace in the New Year

I think I gotta mention the guitar, if anyone reads this 😉
It appears that I have totally fooled a lot of you because this is NOT a new guitar. In fact, this is the first electric guitar I have ever purchased right after joining Active Melody in 2017, it’s a preowned Greg Bennett Royale RL4 made by Sammick in Korea. I played it in my first ever submission and in quite a few subsequent videos. Maybe it’s a different angle or something else here that made you think it was something new? 😉🎸JoLa

That all fitted together beautifully JoLa. You highlighted the movement through the progression with fine note choices. Nice bends and slides in a fluent delivery. Brilliant.
Happy holidays 👍 -

Nice sweet melodic line! Very relaxing music! I recognized some phrasé coming from AM lessons (Brian has kinda signature for the phrasé). Well done. Phil

Real nice Jola, I think you managed to inject a holiday/Christmas lilt to the sound you made – it sent me in that direction anyhow – or maybe it was the great video & twinkly lights. Or both 🙂 An engaging & beautiful sound. Well played.

Jola,
I love how you constructed/imposed an original melody over the chord progression. You have a great ear for playing the notes that sing. You kept the rhythm and timing always fresh too. Very well done.

Hi JoLa,
Good video and sound.
It is great what you have figured out. I just regret that it is very similar to many submissions that I have already listened to. Then it becomes difficult for me to stay really positive. (I’d be a really bad teacher)
Thank you for sharing your submissionEnjoy your day

Loved it – especially around the 0:19 mark, the note choice was fantastic!
Great sense of movement in the piece

That was a great listen. Beautiful melodic flow. I particularly liked the hybrid picking you snuck in there.

JoLa.
Nice slides, bends, pull offs and phrasing. You were using many techniques and that made for a really nice performance. I totally agree with the shorter length format, It takes a long time to listen to everything, I started yesterday and still haven’t finished. Since I don’t often participate I had no idea just how many responses would be here. Again, really nice performance.

JoLa, nice and bluesy, very melodic with some tasteful bends. Thought I saw some hybrid picking there as well.
Watching you play I realized, I don’t think I can stand and play. I haven’t tried it in so long. Lol. -
