For this November Challenge I’ve chosen to play some delta blues based on EP323, I’ve added a few bars of some typical Robert Johnson licks to pad it out a bit.
I didn’t go down to the crossroads to produce this piece but on reflection, maybe I should have done.
However, flying solo without a backing track is definitely a challenge so here’s mine. -

I think it’s the most greatest performance ever I heard in AM. This lesson is in my playlist too and you are using nearly the same type of variations as I did, but much advanced way Great job, Richard!

I did not expect anything else Richard! Although this track became your track.
You played at an absolutely high level and it does not get better.
Cool groove, great ideas and a great acoustic guitar sound.
It’s the way it is — professional.Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Really impressive Richard! You mute your bass notes perfectly. So smooth and flowing and then popping the string and sliding like that. Wonderful technique.
Bravo 👏James

Perfect! Flawlessly played, great audio and video. That had my foot tapping and my head bobbing. I like the rake, and pullup on the E string. Ronnie Earl snaps his E string like that quite often because, he says, it wakes up the audience.

INCREDIBLE performance, Richard! You must have gone to the Crossroads at some point to be able to play like that, wow! So smooth, steady, fluent, and interesting, you could easily jam next to Eric Clapton at the Unplugged concert!

I don’t think Lights was kidding when he said ‘this was the greatest performance on AM ever.’ Richard, I was thinking the same thing. You NAILED this. The acoustics and resonance of the guitar are AMAZING. You could have just kept going and going… what a tremendous gift you have. Your flow, pace and execution are as good as anybody I have seen. THANK YOU.

Sublime, Richard. Not only was this fantastic in itself, but it looks like to me you included many of your secret weapons, which elevated it to an even higher level.

Just a quick note to thank everyone for their kind and encouraging comments. Irrespective of what level we’ve arrived at, we still benefit from other AM players comments and this Forum is by far the best place for that, Thankyou again.

Hi Richard
I was wondering if you have the tab for your wonderful piece re your Robert Johnson extras and if you might be able to post copy or give a reference. I would love to get upsides with this as you have arranged it. Thanks JohnStrat-

Hi John, unfortunately I do not have any Tabs for the extra bars I played in my submission. The first 24 bars were taken more or less from Brian’s lesson, the remaining 36 bars were cobbled together from licks I’d heard from previous and historic Robert Johnson tracks. YouTube is littered with examples some good, some not worth pursuing. I’m happy for you to drop me a private mail if you want to discuss further.

Hi Richrard.
I remember this lesson in an old challenge. Your added stuff is excellent. Your play is clearly confident and one important thing in delta blues, that is tempo is really good.
now I would like to recover this old lesson !!!!
kind regards from Barcelona
