Hello fellow guitarist.
I’ve recently joined this site and I love it. I’ve been practicing ep 318 for a while now. Took quite a few weeks to get the whole song down so I could remember it. Lost track of how long it’s been since I just started playing it straight through. I just started looking at the forum site and videos everyone else is playing on. I have to say I have been happy with what I’m doing here but to be truly honest, for me it was quite depressing to see how well everyone else plays 318. At fast speeds even. I’m playing the slow version and I must slow it down a little to keep up. (mostly just the end section). The rest is alright. It just made me feel like “hey I really suck”. But I’ll push on. I would like to ask members who have played 318 if you have some special way of gaining that speed? Is it just constantly playing it or better yet do you play the fast version and try and force yourself to keep up to gain that speed? I ask because I’ve been messing around for a year or two trying to play something but really don’t even have one song I can play. Learned chords and how to change quickly from one to another. Know minor pentatonic scale. Tried memorizing all the notes on the fret board. “Tried” forgotten most of them since I went on to something else. So I am a beginner in my eyes. Always looking for answers. Even considered getting an instructor but I can’t afford that. So from time to time I may ask questions when I feel I’m not going to be able to do this. There are dark days for me where I feel I just can’t play guitar. Awful thing. Any help on the speed issue would be great.
