Well I needed a new mic, not that I can sing, but to help get me motivated in to song writing again. It’s a low end Pioneer mic, but I’m very pleased with the tone. Has a real nice rich bassy tone coming out of it. Well balanced weight wise and has an on-off switch. My thoughts are that it is a Shure 58 without the Shure name. I’m happy with it though. My next purchase will be a $30 boom mic stand. I’ve read the reviews on them and they are pretty accurate. They are good, but the assembly of them may not always match up with the screws, as I have found out in the past. This time I’m keeping my receipt and if the screws don’t match, well…

It really is all about ”melody”. The melody comes from a language from our heart. Our heart is the muscle in music harmony. The melody is the sweetness that it pumps into our musical thoughts on the fretboard. 🙂 6 stringer Pete

Hi pete
Always fun to get new gear. Didn’t find all the spec’s I like to see but even Sure don’t. lol
Unless your buying a mic for live use I would’t buy a SM58 anyway.
You should be happy I think. What screws are you refering to ?Gordo

Hi Gordo
Actually I didn’t know how to explain it at first, since there really isn’t any screws, but the mic holder fittings are not in line with the twisting of the fittings. As many purchasers have found out, including me. Also the the boom adjustment fittings are off, never tight enough. ( a fitting line problem) Again it is because of poor threads. But when you only pay $30 and don’t move around any, I guess you can live with the flaws. Not to put down Chinese crap, but sometimes you do get lucky, which I hope to do in my next purchase. The mic is Chinese made, but really, I’m very pleased with the tone. Actually high end quality I think. I run it through my Marshall with a Vintage 30 Celestion (British made ) and I’m very impressed. It really sounds so rich. Now if I could only sing. And that’s why they invented gaff tape. Not sure about the boom but you can fashion washers out of rubber, (an old boot or inner tube) that may help.

Check out musicians friend, I picked up two boom stands and two xlr cables for $29. Is your mic lo-z, USB or does it need phantom power?

LOLOh, ok Pete, after reading your post again and problems with the mic mount/boom settings problems, looks like you already have your boom stand. I had read about some similar problems with some of the pop filters on the market, where some of the flexible ones don’t hold in the spot that you want them and fall away from the mic.
Hope you get it worked out. -

An interesting pop filter can be fashioned with a clothes hanger and ladies pantie hose. LOL

Hi Terry. No, it is just a karaoke type mic. It came with a cord, so I didn’t have to buy one. It really is a nice sounding mic though.

I think for the low end (karaoke type) mics they all come with the cord. Mine did. Yes, I can plug it into my amp, no problem with hiss or any other small noise. Also I can put on an adapter type plug and then plug into my computer and record into Reaper, Audacity or Riffworks.
Ah, a song about a new mic. Hmm… “the long awaited mic” lolFor the song writers class I’m taking online, (Berklee) my assignment was to write lyrics for a song, but it wasn’t about a new mic. lol It was about the effects of “Agent Orange” on a new born child.

I think you’d have to go to a music store to try them out. If you are cheap like me, you might try just buying a $5 skype mic and set it near the guitar. You’d be surprised on how good they sound and pickup the sound of the guitar.

Hope you get it worked out.Hey Terry, the boom stand I haven’t bought yet, hopefully next month. But the one I’ll buy are the ones you see on Amazon for about $20. It cost the same for me to buy it at the music store since I have to pay COD and delivery charge. Comes out to $30 in the long run. But I did one in the past and the problem I mention, other people have had the same problems with them. This time I’m keeping my receipt, can’t be throwing $30 away for junk.

I was looking to see if the stand two pack I bought shipped free to you, but I don’t see it on their site now, must have sold out. But musicians friend does ship internationally now. Items that ship internationally have an icon for that.
